Yeah, has Van Halen playing been confirmed anywhere else? (Other than here and on the festival's site)

Sorry, what I meant was: Has it been confirmed anywhere else (other than the festival site) that Van Halen is indeed playing at this festival, or is it just a "dream list" that the Festival is hoping to get?

I have a buddy in Ottawa who wants to go but I'm completing my MCSA that ends on July 4th. Talk about bad timing for a concert, I was looking forward to seeing if only it had been on the weekend! However, there are other priorities in order here.

Have fun if you go it'll be the first real festival with Dave since the US festival in 1983!

Any chance VH might add a "warm-up" show to get ready for the Quebec City show , like they did with the Reno show ? Of course not the same circumstances.

    From the original press release...

Québec City, June 5, 2008 − The Québec City Summer Festival, in conjunction with the Société du 400e anniversaire de Québec, today pulled the last – and certainly not least – rabbit out of its hat! None other than hard rock legend VAN HALEN (with more than 80 million albums sold worldwide) was selected to kick off the festivities on July 3, on the Scène Bell stage.

David Lee Roth and brothers Eddie and Alex Van Halen − who announced their comeback in August 2007 − will bring the house down with hits such as “You Really Got Me,” “Runnin’ With the Devil,” “Dance the Night Away,” “Panama,” “Hot for Teacher” and “Jump.” A new recruit, Wolfgang Van Halen, 17-year-old son of Eddie, replaces Michael Anthony on bass, breathing new life into the four-piece.

As the New York Times captioned its October 5, 2007 review: “A Joyful Reunion, Full of Wide Smiles and High Kicks“. The show opener will be Ryan Shaw, a modern day Soul Man in the spirit of Otis Redding and Wilson Pickett, who will bring alive the passion and soul of the Golden Age of Rhythm & Blues with songs from his freshman album, This is Ryan Shaw.
Wolfgang breathing new life into the band..? WTF? That bump on a log stage right every night??

Clearly no one can say with a straight face that Wolfgang added any element of excitement to the Van Halen stage show. If you think so, you've obviously never seen Michael Anthony in action on stage...

Actually, as we both know, there seems to be a contingent of folk who can indeed say that with a straight face.

In 2004, I was focused on all four performers. They all had very positive energy and gave 100% that night, performance and showmanship (I got a good night that tour).

In 2007, I was focused on Dave, Ed, and Al. This has NOTHING to do with how Wolfgang replaced Mike. Remember I went in open minded. I can honestly say I don't think I even took more than a seconds glance at Wolf because he did not do anything to keep my attention.

ANYONE who thinks he adds ANY excitement to this band is a fucking fool. All he does is stand there. That's all he does. If he were jumping around, playing his bass, and interacting with fans, then we'd be on to something. But he just stands there, making his "effort" look bored and forced.
In and out. I didn't even make that pun on purpose.

I agree you cannot replace Mike from the original band that includes Dave in it.

It was all about Dave returning to Van Halen and hearing those classic tunes especially the way Ed turned it all around and played awesome after his brief hiatus.

I found out I can write my final exam for my MCSA on July 11th so off to Quebec we go and I'm happy about that! I hope to post some video and audio from it on here if we get close enough or not, lol.
Bono Vox: Poetic, Political, extremely generous and just a tiny bit egomaniacal.

"You know twenty-five years ago, Tony Soprano was driving around Jersey in his iroc-Z just blasting the Van Halen"-David Lee Roth

"Will there be a Van Halen reunion? “I have hope and faith, and that’s more than just the name of a couple of strippers from Albuquerque” -David Lee Roth

"This band is three quarters original, one quarter inevitable" -David Lee Roth~2007

"“We had a lot of fun on the tour – Dave was a blast. And next time we go out, we’re going to have some new stuff, too. I’m looking forward to getting on it. I’ve got tons of music written, such a variety of stuff… Actually, next week or the week after, Wolfie, Alex, and I are gonna start jamming. Maybe we’ll give Dave a call and see what he’s up to.” - Edward Van Halen ~ 2009

You missed the point. The only person that Wolfie had to breathe new life into stands 20 feet away and holds a guitar. By most accounts, the tour would not have been started or even been saved unless EVH committed to cleaning himself up and putting it together. And it seems clear that Wolfie was the motivating force.

Whether the rest if us were impressed by WVH's stage present is somewhat moot.
I don't have a cool signature. Deal with it!
