Default van halen tour grosses over 93million

Ray Waddell of Billboard.com reports: Though not without setbacks, the VAN HALEN reunion tour ended up a massive success, wrapping June 2 in Grand Rapids, Mich., with a total gross of more than $93 million and close to one million in attendance from 74 shows.

The tour featured founding members David Lee Roth, and Eddie and Alex Van Halen, along with Eddie's son Wolfgang Van Halen.

The shows marked the first time Roth had performed with the band in more than 23 years. VAN HALEN's handlers say it was the top-grossing tour in the band's history.

I wonder out of that 93 million how much each band member gets.

That's because the ticket prices were drastically higher than they'd ever been previously.

I'm confused... Is this supposed to be cause for celebration?

Happy to have made six donations (this tour) to the Van Halen family fortune.....what I got in return was priceless!!
"Make no mistake. Eddie Van Halen can still kick your ass. The man who single-handedly changed the face of rock is still mean, lean, and sharp as a tack. And if you dispute the ownership of the crown, try to imagine a world without him."~~Billy Corgan/Guitar World (April 1996)

"There's a plaque on our wall that says we've sold over 65 million albums, and I don't feel I've accomplished anything. I feel like I'm just getting started."~~Edward Van Halen

And the fuel to cart both the band and the crew -- and every other necessity like food for catering, etc. -- around the country, back and forth, zigging and zagging, cost more than it had ever been previously too.

What was the top tour before and what were the average tix prices? Even if this tour's tix were 30%-40% less they would have still had a hell of a year. Considering Motley Crue just signed a 100 million 10 year deal for 3 tours VH almost did it in 1.

You could have just got a beaten up Delorean and put a flux-capacitor in it if you wanted to Back in Time.

They definitly made more money than in the past, but they didnt sell as many tickets as they have in the past. The show at All State was at about 80% capacity, maybe less.

There were not that many sell outs, just high ticket prices and at least 10,000people per night.
