    Default 5150 212 combo question

This may seem to be a stupid question, but I have never done this before and don't want to hurt my amp if I do it.

We are an amp short for rehearsal.

is it possible to plug 2 guitars into a 5150 212 combo amp without issue?

Will that totally kill the sound?

Would the rhythm or lead channel be better to get optimum gain?

We have a bassist and an unmiked drum set, so it needs to be loud. On its own with 1 guitar, I can turn it to 3 or 4 and be loud enough to overpower a drum and bass. Would I need to double that if I have 2 guitars in there and is that OK?

Last thing I want to do is blow out my amp.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I am pretty sure it will be fine. I heard plugging in both guitars cuts the volume in half, so you will have to compensate.

It will not hurt your amp at all. Having 2 guitars straight in will give both inputs an automatic 6dB pad though, so you will get a lot less response gain wise than if you plugged 1 guitar into the high gain input. Also, I have found that you lose a lot of tone when 2 guitars are plugged in.

Having 2 guitar players playing through the 5150 at once might be a bit of a dissapointment though... can get muddy quick... good luck.

We ended up waiting. My friend is going to get an extra set of speakers and we will do it right
