Default Went to Rush last night

Hey all, I thought it was better to post this in this room as musicians you need to go to this concert. Alex Lifeson is on fire. I saw quite a few amazing Les Paul Custom shops. I think he even had a version of the Robot as he was changing tunings in some songs on the fly. Also he had a Piezo pick up he was controling with his foot on 2 Les Pauls, not new tech but I've never seen anyone use it as well as him. The main Tiger Flame Custom shop he played had a Floyd as did a few others. They played 2 1.5 hour sets with 30 mins in the middle.
Highly recommend the show even if you've never really been into them, they are 3 amazing musicians.

Opened with Limelight, played tom Sawyer, Spirit of Radio many more,

Yeah but it does fit, not a huge fan , I stopped buying their CD's over a decade ago. 1/3 of the show is instrumental. Everything was top shelf very clever they way they intigrate video, Piro and lights. Geddy is Hillarious, instead of an amp stack behind him he has 3 large Chicken roasters, I caracked up ! Then this chick comes out and bastes them. Food for the crew after the show I guess, could n't tell if they were just plastic but who cares the joke was well played. Lots of good humor the whole night complete with Bob and Doug Mackenzie on video, but I guess you'd have to be Canadian to get most of it, I wonder if they change it up for the USA leg.

    Later,
    Martin

I used to see Rush every time they came to the Twin Cities (about every two years) from the time I was 13 on. Last year I went to see them for the first time in over 10 years, and I was quite pleasantly surprised. When a band has a catalog that large, and when they are consistently known for putting on a great show as they always have been, it's hard to leave unhappy. But there will always be, of course, songs you wanted to hear but didn't.

I've learned to listen beyond Geddy's voice to the point I actually like it. And I have a fondness for the late-80s/early-90s albums (because I was a teenager) despite the absolutely retched production; the songwriting was still good.

Opening with "Limelight" was awesome. I also liked VH opening with "Jump" in '04, and Rage Against The Machine opening with "Bulls On Parade" in '96. It's the "you want a hit, you got a hit" approach to kick-starting the concert.

I saw Rush about a month ago or so, the day after Van Halen, they were fantastic!! They are one of the few bands I go out of my way to see every time they tour, for one thing, they have all their band members still, and they are tight sounding!! Better than ever really, and they care what the fans think cause they put on 3 hour shows with no opening act, and every tour they throw in a surprise or 2, Van Halen will always be my favorite, but I love Rush!!

Geddy's voice is much better than it was the first few albums. I can see where people got irritated by it then, but most who complain aren't listening to enough RUSH stuff in my opinion. His midtempo vocal stylings work great.

Anyway, I saw them at the beginning of the month. I wish they'd play fewer classic rock radio songs and more deep album cuts from the '80s and '90s. Great they are playing a ton of the latest album.

They aren't playing Entre Nous this year, or Secret Touch, Circumstances, or Distant Early Warning.

I wish they'd play some stuff from Counterparts. In a dream world I'd pick the whole Signals and Grace Under Pressure albums.
