Alright baseball fans, caught an interview with Bud Selig today and the hot button issue is instant replay. Some argur heritage, some pace of play. What about us?

I dont have a problem with it. Limit how many times they can use it in a game, give each team 1 or 2 and only on certain types of plays.

I think there are only certain situations you could use it anyway, home runs, maybe plays at first, which I'm fine with. I don't want to see the umpires questioned on every play. It'd be nice to be able to do all the bases, but not sure how you could do it without suspending a camera above each base, which would then be susceptible to being hit by batted balls. First base is different as it's usually a force, but the other bases frequently involve sliding and fielders at different angles, so I think the only way to be able to have the proper angle each and every time is to shoot from above, and even then I'm not sure you'd catch all of the plays!

Why limit it to 1 or 2 times? If a team hits 4 home runs and all 4 are incorrectly ruled doubles or foul balls why should they be "penalized" by only getting credit for the 1 or 2 that were reviewed and changed? If all 4 cleared the fence and video conclusively shows it then give them all 4. That's the objective here.....getting the call right and keep teams from getting screwed out of HR's.

And I agree with what I heard many say this week on tv, that time is no issue here. The amount of time it takes to look at a replay will almost always be quicker than the argument between the ump and manager or the huddle of the umpires. These home runs could be reviewed within a minute or two at the most.

It's just very simple: a ball either clears the fence or stays inside the foul pole. Review them all and get it right. This bullshit of a guy hitting one out but not getting credit for it simply because some old ump is blind as a bat or in bad position has to stop.

I say no to instant replay. Sure, there's always gonna be questionable calls here and there, but that's few. I'd much rather have the human aspect than relying on backup. Plus, it would bog games down waiting for a review. As if the game isn't long enough as is. Let the umpires do their job.

I like the approach that they are going to try it out in the Arizona league and the World Baseball Classic before using it in MLB.
I would say that it should be used on all HR's and fly balls by the foul pole. If challenges are going to be used, a manager could challenge a call of a player trapping a ball or perhaps a close play at one of the bases.
I think there should be limits on when it's used, however. Baseball is a slow game as it is and shouldn't be made slower. I know that correct calls are critical, but there should be some subjectiveness left in the game for the umps. At least they're not going to use it on balls and strikes, right?

I don't think there should be reviews on things on the field, like calls at first. And challenges would suck. Unlike in football, how do you punish a team for making a bad challenge? Taking away a timeout is a deterrant for dumb challenges and to only challenge when it's either critical or completely obvious.

But definitely it should be used for HR calls because that directly effects the score of the game. It needs to be correct.

    Homerun and fair/foul only.

Interleague is here to stay. Get used to it.

One other change I would like to see is to get rid of the unbalanced schedule. I'm sick of seeing the Cubs play the freakin' Pirates.

Don't know if I'm electable Billy. I've done hgh.

And Zeo...you're probably right about interleague play anyway. Still don't like it. As a life long Royals fan, i understand the rivalry between the Royals and the Cards.

    Amen, on all accounts.

People say they wouldn't enjoy instant replay because that ruins the old fashioned style of baseball. I say corporate stadiums names already took care of that. Plus, how often would instant replay honestly be used? It'd be there for intense situations at best.

I'm all for it, I don't see any problem at all.

the cubs HAVE to play the pirates more than most because they're in the same division. They don't play them any more than they play the cardinals, astros, brewers, or reds. In fact exactly the same amount. And that's how it is in every division and how it's always been...if fact it used to be even more when they had less teams. And now that I think about it...it's possible they may even play each division team less in the NL central because they have more teams the your regular division....but I don't know that. Anyway, that doesn't make the schedule unbalanced. What makes the schedule unbalanced is interleague play. Every team plays different teams even within the same division so it's a little unfair.
