    5/20/08 - I'll Wait

This is THE BEST I've ever heard this song live. Everyone is DEAD-ON! I know many of you dislike this song, but c'mon...Eddie's solo here is STELLAR!

VH with Dave ('78-'84) - The best years....the "real" VH.
VH with Sam ('86-'96) - Incredible era....."We have renamed this town 'New Halen!'.
VH with Gary ('98) - Fucking disaster. WTF was that??
VH with Wolf/Dave ('12-'15) - Amazing comeback. Smokin' album and tours.

I agree. I have always liked this song. To me I'll Wait is to 1984 what Urgent is to Foreigner 4. Both great songs from great albums that don't get the credit they deserve.

I love I'll Wait. It is consistently one of my favorite parts of the show. You can feel the synth. It is perfectly placed in the context of the setlist. It was a double bonus when I got to hear it at soundcheck.

I think DLR learned his lesson about cracking on EVH for synth songs. They can kick just as much ass.

"I'll Wait" is now one of VH's best songs???

I mean maybe part of VH's top 200... yes.

And the live version with the sampled keyboard and Alan Fitzgerald playing keys hidden behind a curtain?

I wouldn't call it VH's finest hour. But Roth wears a nice golden jacket!

When I hear that I do wonder what the hell was Dave doing with his voice after Skyscraper and before this tour?

He sounds so much better now than he did on his last say, oh, five tours?

    Don't get it.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

I thought "Urgent" was a hit for Foreigner. I just remember hearing Urgent a lot on the radio.

    Interesting comparison, either way.

Agreed. And when I first heard Dave sing it live in 2007 it was even more PERFECT.

That sounded Great! Although wouldn't it have been better with MA on the backing vocals?

Overall though Ed seems straight again.

great song...sick keyboard sound on the album version
Any musicians near Boston / Cape Cod want to get together and play some VH? I play drums, guitar, keyboard, bass, and I sing. I want to start a VH tribute band. Contact me if interested.
