Well I wouldn't be too sad YBSP, because Sammy has a lot of money i'm sure.
Also Ten 13 is a incredible album that Sammy, the Waborita's and his fans should be proud of.

His new CD is all over Napster, so a lot of people are probaby downloading it and screwing him over.

Good point Dan! I think that it was a mistake for them to release all of the songs from Ten 13 on Napster before it was released.
A couple of songs would have been okay though.

Sales aren't everything. For where Sammy is in his career now, I'd guess they take a back seat to quite a few things.

As to Napster, I don't know. I've got all the songs, and never burned myself a CD. I picked up the album yesterday.

If I like an album, I'll buy it. Napster in that regards (to me) is really only a tool to have a listen and make a judgement on an album I'm not sure bout.

Given that CD sales grew 6% last quarter I suspect theres still afew people left like that

I'll by ten-thirteen if Sam ever bothers to release it here, no worries.

I was another that downloaded the tunes off Napster (who leaked that out anyway?) and then bought the CD....

Sammy has often noted in his interviews recently that he doesn't really care about sales or singles......he's happy with the album and it's almost another excuse to tour.....he does seem content.........and most of us agree that it's a solid album, so if he'd see that.....he'd be as pleased as ever...

And about the money...don't forget Cabo Wabo (the club and most importantly the tequila which I can't wait to become available in Canada!!!)

Gee let's see. A ROCK album from an artist OVER 50 not selling well.....

What do we EXPECT? People we live in a music world that is DOMINATED by teen girls fresh into adolescence, ganster rap artists of the week, and cookie cutter, put together, boy bands, and young rap-metal bands. And guess what?----THESE are the current "flavor of the moment" music that IS at the top of the charts right now. Face reality.

This in NO WAY means that I am dissing Sammy. In fact I LOVE his new album. But we gotta be realistic here. He WASN'T gonna smoke up the charts! Not in THIS music environment.

    -rock on, I say!!!

Paula, his webmistress, about two weeks before the album came out, actually.

And I'm not shocked Ten13 is doing that poorly, as Sammy isn't exactly a "big draw" artist right now. Of course, 25,000 sold, that means he only has to sell like 475,000 to roughly equal 3, which, if sales remained constant, would top it off in something like 5 months. Dunno, I'll just be happy if he hits 300,000 before people stop buying it.

What do you expect when these asshole radio stations never give the bands of Sammy's era any airplay so no one even hears the new music. The radio is dominated by the Crap that the 1990's has spawned and continues to pollute the airwaves. That's why some of the hair bands of the 80's are struggling to continue in this era. They don't get a fair shake. There are those who like that music and not the shit that's out now.

Well, the records sales are a bit misleading. I know for a fact you can't buy it yet, here in Michigan. For some reason, it's about two weeks behind. I must have checked 6 or 7 different stores in Metro Detroit, a Sammy stronghold, and none had it.

I expect 25,000 copies sold around here alone. Give it time...

most sales numbers are probably not in yet, I guarentee that 25,000 is not correct

It will do about what the last one did, give or take a little, even though I think it is a better album...maybe he should put a picture of Spears or Aguilera on the cover naked, hell,. even DLR would probably buy it

    LOL...!

Like I said in an earlier post: It is UNREALISTIC to expect a rock and roll guy who is over 50 to do well sales-wise in today's music environment.

In the 1980's Hagar would sell well....In the 2000's? another story.

Hell even if (or when) VH releases a new album with Roth, I doubt it would sell more than 3 million copies. Though it would certainly do better than the Hagar disc is doing right now. I suspect ti would premier at # 1 just because it is the original Van Halen, but I doubt it would have extreme long range staying power...Not in today's music world.

This is SO uncanny! I was just thinking this exact thing this morning on the drive in.

"How would a new CD from VH / Sammy / Aerosmith etc. be received in today's musical climate?"

My gut feeling is that WE, the undying loyalists that we are, would buy these albums up as soon as we could, but unfortunately, due to these new trends in BoyBands and teeny-weeny girls getting signed and promoted right and left, these record companies HAVE to be aware that the majority of record sales for REAL rock artists are going to come from the P1's (radio term for hardcore fans). I know as long as VH, Sammy and Aerosmith keep putting out music, I'll be there Tuesday morning, but I think we're seeing a changing of the guard as far as music tastes are concerned. REAL rock isn't a hot property anymore, in the eyes of record companies...not saying that it's right, it's just the way it is.

As far as Sammy's comments on Napster, I think he'll be a bit more relunctant to let his webmistress "leak" his new stuff out anymore. Although in this day of mp3's and Napster and the vibe of "I want it now and I want it downloaded yesterday", I'm not too surprised his CD is only at #53. However, I give Sammy BIG props for taking the bull by the balls and promoting 10-13 the way he has. God knows he wouldn't have gotten that kind of budget or push from the bigger companies.
