Default Help with narrowing tube amps!

Got a budget up to $2000.00

What do you guys think of the under $2000.00 class of.....

1.Peavey Valve King head / cab
2.Crate Blue Voodoo head / cab

And my over $2000.00 class of.....

    1. Splawn Nitro
    2. Marshall JCM2000 DSL ( True they dont make these anymore?? )

Mainly play hard rock and like the warm "chainsaw" style crunch from say ACDC to George Lynch....Anyone own any of the above listed amps and what you like about them?

Used JCM 800 would be perfect for you.

    Default Soldano's hard to find??

anyone have any sound clips for the soldano's?

I like the idea of the soldano's although i have never heard one. The JCM 800...i would be hoping for something with a master volume as the ol "i have a marshall and it needs to go to 11" scenario for it to sound good scares me lol

Damn i forgot about those soldano's and i you can tell Ed used it as a bit of a template for the 5150's and they even looked similar. Where can i hear one?

    Thanks again dudes!

The JCM 800 is the first production Marshall with a Master Volume.

i have an 800 and its simply wonderful.
if you're looking at a soldano slo then u might pick a used one for your budget and then get something like a marshall 4X12 cab until you can afford a matching soldano cab but it may take some searching (or a lot)
have you checked out the cornford amps?, handwired in england pretty nice too...although they may be out of your budget i dont know what the prices are in the u.s.

I am also seemingly on a never ending amp search... Though my latest find has been great. I really like it. Carvin Legacy. I read some negative things about it (not enough gain, need a boost, impossible to get a good tone at low volume etc). I cansay for sure its not true. I play it in my house as well as gigs and it sounds great both ways. The clean channel is to die for. The lead channel can do classic vh with that gain just under half way up. If you put the gain up to about 7 it gets highly saturated like Vai or the current EVH lead tone.

Its a great amp. I picked it up locally on Craigslist for 700 including the 212 Legacy cab.

Over 2k, I have fallen for the Mesa Boogie Roadster.

I've finally found "my sound" with a Soldano Hot Rod 50 Avenger. It's basically a 1 channel Hot Rod 50. I can't say enough positive comments about my amp. It does everything I want from classic rock to Metallica crunch with just a change in my guitar's volume knob.

The Hot Rod 50 has (2) channels if you need a dedicated clean channel. I bought mine from Lynn at www.bluescitymusic.com

Lynn offers great customer service, great suggestions as to what amp to look for etc.

I've had the Boogies, the Peavey's, the Marshalls, Bogners, etc. The Soldano is what I was looking for.

If you're liking the Marshall sound, the JCM 800 is a great amp. Also look at the JVM.

If you're wanting more gain than you can use, the Dual Rectifier, The Krank Revolution, the 5150III, the Peavey 6505, are great amps. Also look at the Rivera Knucklehead Tre, and the VHT Deliverance.

I'd still buy the Soldano if it were me...
