    Cassette to mp3 question

Ive got a version of Best of Both Worlds that I taped off of a radio show years ago. I think it was from a radio interview with the band. The song is an edited version off of "Live without a Net".

Im trying to use "Audacity" to import the song. It works; however, it is very grainy and high end sounding. I've listened to the tape and it still sounds very good. I've tried editing the input recording levels etc. with no luck.

Any ideas as far as programs to use to import a song off of a tape? Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

Was the original recording encoded with any type of noise reduction system (ie: Dolby B/C, DBX)?

Don't bother with it, your wasting your time when there are higher quality versions of this exact song & show all over the net. VHS & DVD rips from LWAN.

    Look for this:

Van Halen: New Haven, CT - Aug. 26/27, 1986 or LWAN DVD rip.

BOBW is track 6 on disk 1 (full version is 12:43). mp3 is 11.7mb.

Probably the most bootleged Van Hagar show.

Maybe VOA38 can help you out with an mp3 copy from his site:

You can also hit most of the BIG torrent sites for a lossless or mp3 version.

This is a pretty good boot. In addition to the extended version of "Best of Both Worlds", it has "Good Enough" and the "Wild Thing" duel.

Here is a listing of a handful of other boots from the New Haven show:

That grainy, high endy sound is inherent in Audacity. I record on an analog Tascam machine that is eight track, and thought I'd try shooting some tracks over to digital using Audacity because it is digital multitrack and wanted to give it a try. I had the same result you did. Nothing I did sounded any better. Just horrible sound. The best I've used for transfering to digital, and it is very user friendly is Nero. Excellent quality. Good luck!
