    Default meanstreet guitars

I was on this site yet again today, and couldnt find any threads on here from recent times. I've been eyeing that Unchained model for a couple years now and with this income tax refund... Anyone know anything on those TB-77 pick ups that come with it? At $545 this guitar seems like a steal but.. feedback??

    Guitar Threads?

Hi ,You might find something on meanstreet in the guitar section..
I have not made any purchases from them, but I have heard mostly good things in different threads. Also, I emailed "Mitch" (think that's his name) @ Meanstreet once, and he got right back to me.
You may want to reach out with an email and ask him for some endoresements from clients along with client emails... good luck!

Just via the internet, I've always heard positive feedback about them. I've thought about buying from them at some point, maybe down the road.

However, half the fun is building it yourself.

I have an Unchained model from Mitchel.
I have no idea what pickup is in it. I got it last year, so I would imagine it is what he uses now.
It sounds and feels great, well worth the money I spent.

Honestly, I wouldn't worry too much about the pickup. If the guitar plays well, you can always switch pickups if you don't care for the stock one.

The idea that this guitar is a "steal" all depends on what you look for in a guitar ...

If you're looking for a cool looking guitar that plays well, I'm sure it's a good deal. However, Mitch is able to offer these guitars at good prices by using generic hardware and electronics, not to mention the fact that he makes his own bodies and necks. If you add in the cost of Schaller tuners, an OFR, and a Seymour Duncan, the price would then be comparable to the Kramer 1984, in which case ... I'd choose the Kramer.

    Tough call ...
Mitch is a great guy and he does really nice work.
He's found a "nitch" in offering cool looking guitars at a price most folks can afford, but IMO, there is a trade-off.
For some, "brand name" parts don't really matter.
For others, a guitar is only as good as the parts used.

It's really all a matter of personal preference and what you look for in a guitar.

See that's why I was asking what the opinions were on the TB-77 pick up that comes with it, I mean I have a nice collection of pickups to put in it already at no cost, and the floyd ping that it comes with I have one that works good for me so I'll not bitch about it. But I was wondering how that pick up was really. Because yeah if you consider the parts it comes with as "junk" then it will cost you to replace them. And I'm not interested in painting it like VH, so no cost there for me, just pretty much I want a nice kramer style guitar. I'm starting to go backwards in time and lately I'm getting back into my old teenage years of less is more and wanting to go back to just one pick up one knob and just play.

    That's what I did.
I got him to do a red quilt...kind of VH combo of old(kramer) and new(quilt like the EBMM & Wolf). Everyone who sees it knows the references.

It does sound great too. I have it tuned down 1/2 for CVH also.

I don't know how to add a pic from another thread, but if you want to see it it is in the TLW thread in the pics of my house, post # 4874. Kind of small though.

I don't know if you've checked out www.harmony-central.com, but they have some "user reviews" for the Meanstreet guitars...
