    Default Viper Blue San Demon

I liked the Viper Blue so much I wanted to use it again. This is a Northern Ash Body and pretty damn fine Birdseye Neck if I may say so myself; the markers are Abalone. Old non-fine tuner Floyd, Vintage Schallers, a '59, and Volume only. This is a test fit. The finished product will have a serious shine. Can't wait to plug this on in!

Where did you find the neck? Or did you make it yourself?

    WoW, 800? ... that's pretty aggresive!
I'm going to guess you did this in succession (800, 1000, 1200, etc..)?
Going from 800 grit straight to 1500 grit would have left some pretty nasty scratches.

of course... i have a great little block that i use when wetsanding and it keeps everything very flat, and the 800 was a very quick pass only for leveling. once i made my way to the 1500 it was almost not even necessay to use the compound. proof is in the final product and i'll be finishing here in a few days.

    1500 with no compound? Really?
You sure you don't mean 15000?

    It looks great Kyle ...
I was just curious about your technique, that's all.

I've buffed ALOT of guitars by hand and I can tell you it's quite a workout.
I've also learned that alot of compounds work best when there's a bit of heat generated in the buffing stages. This can be very difficult to do by hand, especially when working with hard finishes like urethanes.

I know Micro Mesh makes finishing kits that go to at least 12000 grit.
I think you'd be surprised at the results.

    MicroMesh for frets? .... interesting.

Yeah, I don't use it for guitar finishes either ... I just know it works.
I try to avoid doing that stuff by hand these days.
