Default Just bought my first rack piece of equipment!!

I don't know why it's such a big deal for me, but I was absolutely excited about getting this rack-mounted gate/compressor. Maybe coz it has this "professional studio" look about it, but I was jumping around the flat when I finally brought it home! So here's my new baby -

    Still in the bag

I can't believe I actually took time to take a pic of this, instead of tearing the box apart straight away

    Testing for the first time!

    An addition to the rig

So what can I say - she's beautiful. I don't have any experience with dynamic processors, but I already can say that I've no idea how I've been playing guitar without a gate. It clears up the tone so well I felt like it was someone else with 10+ more years of experience playing the guitar (I still find it hard to hit the right string without hitting everything else around). I haven't heard the compressor yet but, then again - that's really the point of the compressor, you're not supposed to 'hear' it.

And on top of everything, I really love Behringer. Not only because I can't afford Mackie or Alesis - but coz they make really damn good equipment.

Now, I'm off to read 500 pages of manual

^ Lol on home recording forums, there is this "Show Us Your Rack!" thread, and one smart-ass replied with "last time I asked someone to show me their rack I got slapped in the face"

By the way, I'd get V-Amp Pro instead of PodX on any day.

    http://reviews.harmony-central.com/r...V-Amp+Pro/10/1

A lot of first-hand experiences with either of the model reviewed there, and v-amp is like 50 times cheaper in the first place! Here's one I like the most :

"Well, when I was using this thing during the first round, some dudes on a forum I used to post stuff up on said I had the most Van-Halenest sound out of someone not Edward, that they'd ever heard before, so apparently this gets the Van-Halen sound. This was the first go round because I got a used Digitech that cost more than four times the cost of this thing and it crapped out, but more on that in durability."

I never tried POD, but I have Line6 spider amp and I played some before. The thing about Line6 is - it sounds like Line6. If it's your thing - you get your sound handed in on a silver plater. However it wouldn't let you shape your own sound if the slight coloration bugs you. The best thing about Marshall or Roland products is they're as transparent as you can get.

I haven't tried that Behringer V-amp myself yet, but I'm gonna get it as soon as I manage to score some extra cash. I'll post the review about it then.
