Default VH tracks with weird time signatures?

I'm doing a project in math about the connection between math and music, and one of the things I'm talking about is rhythm. I tried to think of some VH with weird time signatures, but couldn't think of any. What am I forgetting?

I know the solo in Hot For Teacher switches it up about half way through...really though, I don't think a lot of Halen songs have "weird" time signatures....Check out some Dream Theater stuff. They basically pride themselves on unusual time signatures.

Cabo Wabo has some really weird timing in the chorus. "Let me take you down, I will show you all around... " that whole section is really bizarre.

The intro & outro to Me Wise Magic is in 9/8 time...

I'm not a musician, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last nite! I always though the intro to A.F.U. Naturally Wired was not a stock time.
A little more volume in the headphones please.

Tell me about it. That chorus section has never sounded right to me. Something is really fucked up there.

Actually, that whole tune is straight 4/4 and double time.

...and although Alex is playing straight 4/4 on the end of Can't Get This Stuff No More, Ed & mike are doing a 7/8 thing over it.

I'm no musician, but I always thought that Sinner's Swing (although it is one of my favorite songs) sounded a little wonky....

It's just where they put the vocal on the upbeat - the tune's actually all 4/4...

Sometimes Ed and Al add or drop a beat in an odd spot once or twice in a song that makes it feel sorta odd-time (the intro to 5150 comes to mind) but, for the most part, they really don't write in odd time.

I know there are a few more moments like that on Balance & III but I'd have to go back and listen to them again to pinpoint them.

Went and looked at my VH A to Z songbook and this is all I could come up with:

    1. Eruption, Spanish Fly & Primary have various time signatures including 3/4, 9/8, 7/8. & 5/4, but the fact that those pieces are really freeform solos, it's just that they're notated that way. Don't think they were intended to be 'weird'.

    2. Most of Sunday Afternoon In The Park is in 7/8.

    3. The intro & outro of Me Wise Magic is in 9/8.

    4. Josephina has a lot of alternating odd signatures including 3/4 & 5/8.

    5. The intro to Year To The Day had some 3/4 & 5/8, as well.

That's really it. Ed & Al's playing (accenting certain things, dropping a beat & picking it up later) really makes it sound as if they're playing in odd meters when they're actually not.

Without hearing it again, I recall at one time determining that there was a measure of 2/4 thrown in during the end of the solo on "Best Of Both Worlds." I know they do two measures of 11/8 as the bridge of "Learning To See." Otherwise, most of the stuff I can think is what Six was saying about the occasional beat dropped or picked up. VH usually sticks to straightforward meters.

Most of their stuff is in 4, but the way they syncopate phrases
and figures around the beat gives their music a kinetic quality that
you just don't get from, say, Bon Jovi. The prechoruses in Unchained or Panama are good examples.
