Not to mention that I wouldn't put G 'N F'n R, Van Halen, Def Leppard, Aerosmith, KISS, Ozzy, Scorpions, Bon Jovi and especially Loverboy on a list of "hair metal" bands - most of those bands either aren't metal (Loverboy? metal? or don't have "hair metal" hair!

As always, the list mirrors the retarded person who wrote it.

Guns n Roses looked the part though with their big hair, leather jackets/pants, tattoos etc.
Wolfie is not Mike, but he's more than ok.
Mike is gone, but not forgotten. They played some amazing shows from 2007-2015; some people are in denial about it.

Calling VH a hair band is like saying Mick Mars is a guitar virtuoso. By the way, where the hell is POISON on this list? I fucking hated them, but in my world, they were the ultimate hairband. I define hairbands as a bunch of wannabees who happened to learn a few barre chords, grow their hair long, put on gay ass make-up, and look and bands like VH who were getting all the bitches, writing the best songs of all time, and saying" Hey, lets start a fucking band man" !!!!

Both lists are totally fucked up. I'm sorry but, Dokken, Extreme, and Y&T were all phemonenal, especially Y&T. I'm glad Poison ended up were they belong though. I also find it funny that Tesla did not make the "good" hair metal list.

I hate that band Kix. No way are they better than Queensryche. It is funny to see Bon Jovi not even make the top 10 though.

That is funny, the guy is so clueless, he shouldn't be commentating on their music. The guy doesn't even know what Mr. Big looks like. He has Roth's EEAS band instead.

Now where is the pet peeve thread whenst you need it?? It's lists like this that are definitely a pet peeve of mine. Half the time they're lame at best. I hate the term Hair Metal.

How uninspired a singer is Extreme vocalist Gary Cherone? Well, he joined Van Halen and made people miss Sammy Hagar.
A little more volume in the headphones please.

I think this chap needs a little history lesson. Before the '80s "hair bands" there were the early '70s "glitter rock" bands. These bands included (but were not limited to): David Bowie, Alice Cooper, Queen and The New York Dolls. The Dolls wore more makeup on the cover of their first album than they ever did in all their concerts combined (save for their infamous Club 82 gig, but that's another story). The Dolls broke up in early 1975 (maybe late 1974). Axl Rose was 12-years-old and Bret Michaels was 11-years-old.

The only groups on that list that was directly influenced by the Dolls was the then-unknown Kiss (I know this for a fact because I was there when each of the four Kiss members used to sit back stage and closely watch the Dolls.) and Hanoi Rocks.

Meanwhile, after the breakup of the Dolls, Johnny Thunders started touring England, where, ironically, he is credited with being the godfather of the late-'70s "punk" movement.

Guns N' Roses took the proceeds of "GN'R Lies" and re-released all of the Hanoi Rocks albums on GN'R's own Uzi Suicide label. They did so as "pay back" for all that had inspired them.

I loved the New York Dolls, they were my friends. I loved Gun N' Roses, they were my idols. I just needed to get the facts straight.
