Default What other Sammy solo tune would've gone well on the "5150" tour?

In my mind, "One way too rock" off "Live without a net" is one of VHs greatest songs, even though it was from Sammys solo era. I loved how VH made it a staple VH song throughout 1986 to 1993. But even though VH did "55" on the "5150" tour, do you wish they would of squeezed in another Sammy solo tune. I've always thought "Heavy metal" would of went down well back then.
What is understood need not be discussed

"Dont disturb my paradise. I've asked you once. I've asked you nice" - "SERIOUS JU JU"

"I am in a blissful state. Dont bug me!!!" - Richard Dreyfuss "The Goodbye girl" 1977

I always thought it would have been cool if VH and Sammy got together and did a "no holds barred" show, just anything goes...old VH, old Sammy, Montrose, covers...all that jazz. I thought this woulda been pretty cool for them to do if they ever got back together prior to 04 but we got 04 instead.

Heavy Metal is the obvious choice, maybe 3 lock box.

IMO - I think none. They shouldn't have played any. It was a Van Halen concert. If you wanted to see Sammy tunes you should have seen him solo.

We got screwed out of two potential VH tunes in lieu of what we got.

What Roth tunes should we be hearing on this tour? NONE. It's Van Halen.
One noticeable difference between Judas Priest and Metallica...
...Judas Priest only has one gay guy in the band.

I think after 5150 you have a point but there was only one album of new material that fans were not very familiar with during their first tour. If you watch Lw/oN much of the crowd is just standing around during some of the 5150 songs looking bewildered. They had to play some hits for the more casual fans in the crowd and we know that Sam was only going to want to 'cover' a couple of Roth era tunes and I'm sure he did that because he had to.

I don't disagree but we have to remember that they only had 1 album of material to work with for the 5150 tour and I am sure Eddie wanted to distance himself from the Roth tunes as much as the fans would allow, resulting in Jump, Panama etc.

I wish I still had it but someone who claimed to be "in the know" back on the old VHML days-maybe it was posted on the SHML-said that it was the entire bands decision to not play alot of the roth era stuff on 5150. the plan was to present the new version of the band and let it stand on it's own and then after awhile they would work in more old stuff....didn't really happen that way but that's what they said the plan was. why they played sammy stuff.....who knows? maybe they wanted to say "here's who this guy is if you don't know him" or something. One way to rock was always awsome when they played it, I don't care who wrote it.

the guy from the VHML or SHML could have been full of shit...I honestly don't remember who they claimed to be...it's been at least 8 years since I read that post....just stuck out in my mind.

They could have added some Montrose stuff since VH used that 1st album as a blueprint for what they wanted to do.

I think maybe a Van Halen version of Turn Up The Music would have been cool. Burning Down The City could have worked nicely too, maybe split and mixed with a Roth era tune.
