    Default Question about concert plugs...

I have concert plugs, my hubby bought them (about $18 pr.) - my question is do you wear plugs or not. And why?! I have never worn them and am a bit perplexed as to how good or bad they can make a show sound.

I wear a pair of Hearos to just about every show I go to. I have found that for me anyway if they are worn right it actually can make a loud muddy sounding show sound better. You can also hear the people you are with easier if they try to talk to you. Not to mention your ears won't ring the next day. I left them out for VH in Worcester when I went and regretted it. My ears were ringing for the next 2 weeks. Well actually my ears are always ringing, but for about 2 weeks it was much louder.
I used to jog but the ice cubes kept falling out of my glass.

It's a valid question. When this tour first started to get rolling, the issue was discussed here: http://www.vhlinks.com/vbforums/psa-...light=earplugs

There is some amusing as well as highly insightful postings contained within.

I didnt wear earplugs when i saw them in 98 or KISS in 99 and thought it was cool that my ears rang and saw it as a product of rock and roll, then when i went to see VH in 2004, i again didnt wear ear plugs, i regret it to this day, i lost some of my higher/lower range hearing, ever since i know things have been worse. This tour, ive seen them in Indy and wore plugs, best idea in the world. That place is like a huge bathroom with all the echo so having them in made everything clear and knocked out all of the bounce of the sound. Same deal in Atlanta. I use the hearos too, they work great for me.

I absolutely wear ear plugs now, as I've paid the price for going without too long. From loud concerts and other things. I can no longer hear high frequencies because of over exposure. Went to see Ace Frehley recently and, just to hear the difference, took them out for one song, then put them back in. Still did not detract from my having a good rockin' time one bit. It actually cut those pain inducing high end signals out. I recommend them highly.

Ace was loud as hell, and better than I've ever seen/heard him too!

My wife and I wore them to the St. Louis show on 4/26/08 and could talk to each other during the show. Sound was much better with plugs in place.

Agree with everybody here. Got some Hearos for the 10/22 VH show in Auburn Hills and didn't regret it. I could hear the show fine, no problem, and could actually converse with people during the break between the opening band and VH with them in, again no problem.

I used to think I was too cool for plugs but got tired of my ears ringing for days afterward. Hearos rock.

I usually wear the Hearos foam plugs if I'm up close, halfway in or cut in half, because I've heard the Xmas tree cones aren't comfortable...but getting rid of the muffle would be cool.

Musicians, is there any difference between the Hearos Hi-Fidelity plugs and the Hearos Hi-Fidelity 'filters?' And how uncomfortable are they?

All kinda depends on what your going to, I always have them if I think I need them. Saw VH in 04 at America West, mix was great, didn't need them. Saw Sammy at Cricket, wore them then. Seen Black Label Society quite a few times, depends on the theatre as to whether I wear them. I go to alot of NHRA events, it's just a given there, no way around it.

I guess my advice is to take them, and just see what works for you.
