    Dragonforce

Yeah, I never heard of them either. And yes, this tune sounds remarkably similar to a speeded-up version of The Eagles' "Hotel California" in places, yet is somewhat entertaining nonetheless.

DragonForce - Through the Fire and Flames Studio (4:59)

I discoverd them a couple of years ago on satelite radio. I got into them a little, but they were just too technical for me. Straight forward speed metal. They seem to be good players, but nothing unique to set them apart, except that they are a new band that play music from the classic metal era.

They have 3 cd's as far as I know(I have them all but have only really listened to the first one and a little of the 2nd)
    1. The Valley of the Damned 2003
    2. Sonic Firestorm 2004
    3. Inhuman Rampage 2006

Long live the search for good new music.

You might want to try a band called Brainstorm. They get repetitive after a while, but they hit on a few songs.

This song gained some popularity with it's inclusion in Guitar Hero III. It's extremely hard. I certainly can't beat it. It is also used as a play along during the closing credits in the career mode.

I can't stand these guys. I've always felt that once you heard one song, you've pretty much heard them all. And I don't like the songs, either.

I don't like straight-up shredding like this. There's no true "feel" to the playing. But that's just my opinion.

It's true, they're very popular thanks to GH3 -- it reminds me of the early 90s when Beavis & Butthead were credited with exposing the masses to Cannibal Corpse, Helmet, and White Zombie. Funny!

Holy shit! During the guitar solo I noticed extremely fast sweep picking, thats a hard technique which most people will never master. I would say those guitarists are incredibly talented.

Dragonforce rules! I know its not for everyone but the guitarists for that band are INSANELY FAST! Yeah its straight up speed metal but its not super dark or anything which is why I like them. They also have this pacman/nintendo sound goin on haha. I would love to see them in concert.

I couldn't agree more. Their music is just total acrobatic wankery. "Hey, look how fast I can play!" Well, all that technique sure is great, but where's the song?!

Amen. I mean, I like shredding, but I also like "feel" in the songs as well, something these guys simply do not give off.

Acrobatic wankery can be cool, as long as there's some substance, I think. And I've heard a lot of other speed metal bands contain more substance than these guys.

If you like these guys you might want to try a group called Sonata Arctica.

Don't listen then!!!!!! Chef.. I agree... definately entertaining. Technique so to say... who cares! Not everyone who follows rock bands is a "guitar expert" Some people are listening for the fun of it... the entertainment factor. These guys were definately entertaining to watch! And I loved the Keyboard guitar thingy! Oh and "speed metal" is not about the "song"

Well, actually I DON'T listen to them, nor did I ever say I did.

I don't know, I think that there are metal bands out there that are just as technically amazing to watch, yet their songs have meaning and substance. My personal favorites Dream Theater for instance.
