Default Seeing the band before show

Anyone have any suggestions on seeing the band as they arrive at the arena ? What time would they be entering ? I am going to MSG , wondering if I can catch a glimpse of the boys before they enter the arena and where I should wait. Do they stop and acknowledge the fans ?

It is strange how beefed up their security is... Val even said "Groupies, uh not so much" I suppose it is more a "real" security thing now... that whole Dimebag Darrell thing kinda screwed everything up for alot of bands AND fans. Just my observation

It just depends on their moods. I've done the stalker outside the hotel routine for VH back in the day (once for the RHRN tour and once for Balance). For RHRN Sammy was fantastic and did many photo ops. Some idiot asked Sammy to sign at least 30 things but Sammy was a champ and signed 'em all. Eddie was less than cordial, refused to acknowledge anyone and seemed irritated. I guess ya can't blame him. It's just not his thing.

For Balance I just missed them but was told that Eddie was nice that day and signed some kid's Kramer and chatted for a bit.

In Indy, I waited outside for 1 hour, watched the busdriver clean the windows of the tour bus, and got a 4 second glimpse of AVH as he entered his bus.

I then waited another half hour, and saw Wolfie do the same thing.

    I then remembered that: (1) I am 35 (2) I had 4th row tickets (3) Vodka doesn't drink itself.
I don't have a cool signature. Deal with it!

Yes, but can we trust certain members around here to actually follow that advice?

Funniest post I've seen in awhile. First of all, it's just funny. Secondly, it reminds me of a few years ago when Dave was at a casino here in St. Louis. We waited by Dave's bus along with about an hour. Watched his band come in and out of the bus. Dave finally comes out, signs some stuff, takes some pics with fans. Me and my buddy were just too far back to get up by him. Dave jets, most people leave, a few of us stuck around for about 45 more minutes hoping he'd come back around and finish off the last 8 or so of us. No dice. I wasn't mad at him, it's not his job to come back out. I did look at myself and kind of think where's my life at; but sometimes you just gotta say, what the fuck. At least I gave it a shot.

Don't even try it. There is nothing positive that would result from such behavior. I once got to meet the band backstage and it became painfully obvious that I could say or do nothing that was original and that they hadn't heard or seen a thousand times before. The result was just an awkward encounter.

If you consider yourself a fan and care about the band, then respect them and give them their space.

It's one thing to see Eddie in the grocery store and give him a wink as if to say "I know, that you know, that I know, you're Eddie Fucking Van Halen".

It's another thing to jump out from behind a bush (figuratively speaking of course) at an arena and ask for an autograph.

    Don't stalk EVH.

You saw me do that?! just kidding.

I got to meet Aerosmith in the 80's. And you're right... I said hi, had my ticket signed (which I have no idea where it is) and well, that was it. I'm not the groupie type (just wanting to meet a band for well, the bus ride afterward) so it was a letdown.

There are lots of famous (well they think they are at least) people in Charlottesville. And they are mainly friendly (except John Grisham- what a pompous asshole!), just to nod and say hi, just as you said, but I would never stop them for conversation.

I do wonder how autograph collectors function these days. Not many meet and greets & you just can't get that close to people anymore... I think it's fairly sad although understandable
