Default Your Favorite Songs...That Not Many People May Know

I thought of this thread while listening to a couple songs on my iPod today. I'm sure all of us at the Links have our favorite bands, and some of us who don't know much about them may only know a few songs (the hits, for example).

Instead of going the typical route of saying what all of your favorite songs are, I thought it'd be interesting to see what kind of "deep cuts" people here on the board enjoy. Who knows, maybe it may inspire some to go look into that particular band, especially if they enjoy what they heard.

So allow me to begin by saying my two favorite "deep cuts" may very well be Journey's "Daydream" and Bon Jovi's "Little Bit of Soul". Both songs are very underrated and, to me, show sides of the bands that not many usually see.

There are probably more, but let's hear what you got!
"I respect that youre passionate about this but what your saying is complete idiocy..." - MF5150 on McDonald's "preying" on young kids.

"He was born a human, he's a horse's ass by proxy." - It's Mike on Eddymon.

"When I Leave Here" - Robben Ford - Easily one of Ford's greatest songs. Tasteful blues tune with awesome guitar playing and hooks. A killer song.

"Bottle Up And Go" - Arlo West - A blazing, perfectly structured guitar gem. A smokin' song from beginning to end.

    Anything by JUNKYARD..

A new song I like is by the band DC4 called "Candy Caine". Check it out on I-Tunes. Love the riff.

Sappy-wise. I love "Remember My Name" by House of Lords.

"Gimme Your Love" by the McAuley/Schenker Group (MSG). Great song you can find on YouTUBE

"Last Time in Paris" by Queensryche. Though this has been getting more play lately. Even made the greatest hits!

    "20th Century Man" Sammy Hagar

    "Oceans Away" Roger Daltry

"I'm Leaving You" by the Scorpions. Love the chorus. Can't get it out of my head.

    "Invisible" by DIO

"Action Not Words" by Def Leppard. Totally a B-Side, throwaway song but I like it for whatever reason.

"Blood on Blood" by Bon Jovi.. Spring BREAK '89!! LOL!

"Don't Say No" by Billy Squier.. I like this song as much as the hits from that album.

    Cool...glad you like it!

Don't know how much you know about Robben Ford, but if you like that song then I have no doubts you'd like:

Talk To Your Daughter - Widely thought of as his best song and rightfully so. It's awesome.

The Miller's Son - An instrumental. Just a monster of a guitar solo. Again...tasteful, smokin', and played beautifully.

    Blind man in the bleachers

I am a sap for songs with feeling and meaning so

    Blind Man in The Bleachers

He's just the blind man in the bleachers, to the local home town fans
And he sits beneath the speakers, way back in the stands
And he listens to the play-by-play, he's just waiting for one name
He wants to hear his son get in the game.

But the boy's not just a hero, he's strictly second team
Tho' he runs each night for touchdowns, in his father's sweetest dreams
He's gonna he a star someday, tho' you might never tell
But the blind man in the bleachers knows he will.

And the last game of the season is a Friday night at home
No one knows the reason, but the blind man didn't come
And his boy looks kinda nervous, sometimes turns around and stares
Just as tho' he sees the old man sittin' there.

The local boys are tryin', but they slowly lose their will
Another player's down and now he's carried from the field
At halftime in the locker room, the kid goes off alone
And no one sees him talkin' on the phone.

The game's already started, when he gets back to the team
And half the crowd can hear his coach yell, "Where the hell you been?"
"Just gettin' ready for the second half," is all he'll say
"'Cause now you're gonna let me in to play."

Without another word, he turns and runs into the game
And through the silence on the field, loudspeakers call his name
It'll make the local papers, how the team came from behind
When they saw him playin' his heart out to win.

And when the game was over, the coach asked him to tell
What was it he was thinkin' of that made him play so well
"You know my dad was blind," he said, "Tonight he passed Away"
"It's the first time that my father has seen me play."
"Knowing is not enough, we must apply, willing is not enough, we must do" -Goethe

Minds are like parachutes. They only function when they are open.--Sir James Dewar, Scientist (1877-1925)

Always drink upstream from the herd...
    --Will Rogers

It is amazing how much some people can do with so little, however, what is even more amazing to me is how little some people can do with so much.
--Somewhat me, mostly someone else, not sure who

Almost all of "Done with Mirrors" actually
    Given a Dog a Bone-ACDC
    Escape (Song not album)-Journey
    Too Rude-Rolling Stones
    Movement in the Light-Fishbone
    Roads to Madness-Queensryche
Thru with the Two Step-Robert Plant

    Warm Tape-Red Hot Chili Peppers
    Wire-U2
If eddie were down and out on a sidewalk playing guitar I'd be next to him with a bottle and a blanky braving the cold. I would be sucking my thumb happily making chupa chupa noises in sync with the petroglyphic sounds that came from the mighty finger tips of Edward Van Halen.

Absolutely. I can't believe I forgot to list that one.

It totally captures the classic U2 sound but for some reason goes widely unnoticed and gets very little love. I've had this on most U2 mix CD's I've ever put together. Awesome tune.
