A recent study shows 92% of the teenage population likes rap music. If you are part of the 8% who listen to real music, put this as your sig.

I wanted to slice my ears off after hearing that. They seriously thought, of all the other songs they could've done live (From Afar, Once, Hot For Teacher, etc.) that HOW MANY SAY I was a good choice to randomly throw in?

That's when you knew it was the beginning of the end. When Ed rolls out a piano and starts singing lead vocals out of his hoarse, smoke-abused voice

For the first time??? Count yourself fortunate. At least you didn't have to witness it live as an encore to a VAN HALEN gig.

can't really tell if he's getting cheered or booed.

although i stopped it as soon as he started singing.

Anyways, i respect ed for trying to sing, but perhaps he could have gone with some different lyrics.

That was painful to watch indeed. And yeah, it seems like he's getting booed by the crowd for part of it.

I was one of those poor bastards on their July 4th gig in Devore.

And yes, he was getting booed at my show. The ONLY time I've ever heard booing at a Van Halen concert, EVER. The entire first five rows of the pit were booing. We were second row center, and still idolized Ed far too much to boo along with the crowd, but someone nearby did say loud enough for Ed to hear before he started in on the grand, "No, Ed, don't do it." LOL.

Yes, Virginia, there IS a worse song to encore with besides Jump. Oh yes indeed.

I am not offering any sort of mean-spirited jest as I type this...Ed Van Halen's latter day issues may have had their start in moments such as what you just described.
No, I'm not predicating things entirely upon 5-7 minutes worth of video at a show...yet taken in turn with your own comment... it is something worth noting, if not considering further and adding to the overall equation.

It's a trainwreck. It's so awful, yet somehow, I simply cannot stop going back and watching it

Oh, I never disagreed with the notion that Ed's radical attitude change toward the fanbase had a significant root in the non-acceptance of III.

Hey, I paid for the CD. I tried to acclimate it for six months straight. I paid for second row center tickets for the show, and I even gave Freddie Mercury Lite a pass on accountability. Ed can't claim the core fanbase didn't give it the chance it deserved. He can claim the label and the casual fan didn't, yes.

A lemon's a lemon, no matter how ya slice it. No big deal, move on, try again. Fair Warning didn't sell for shit. Diver was full of covers. Then blammo, '84. FUCK followed OU812. They can't all be platinum out the gate, and how many bands successfully translate three lead singers anyway?

I was at two shows on the VH3 tour (both in Ma.) and I honestly don't remember if I ever saw this piece of shit song at either. I'd say definitely not at the Mansfield show but I'm drawing a blank on the Fleet Center show. My guess is no. God is that song horrible.
