Nazi racoons are threatening wildlife in Denmark....I'm not kidding.

The two pairs of raccoons were released from captivity in 1934 near Lake Eder in Hessen, Germany on the orders of Herman Göring, a leading member of the Nazi party. Göring was an avid hunter and wanted to cultivate a raccoon population for hunting.

The experiment succeeded as the four animals are now widely considered to be the forefathers of a flourishing population spanning as far as the UK.
