Default Anyone still feeling the sting from 2004?

So today I was on the treadmill and I decided to listen to Vh in Atlanta 9/17/04 board boot. As i chugged along, I was reminded how I still feel pissed about 2004 and that tour. Now just for record, i love all 3 eras dearly and I will always continue but after hearing that show....i said ....g*d damn edward was fucked up. Horrid horrid horrid guitar playing. Mike and Al literally held the whole show together. Now Sammy sang ok, he's stretching a bit on the notes hear and there but it's not near the disaster as Ed was.

Some of you have apparently seen or heard really "baddddd" shows from this tour. Is there one worse than this one? If so, can some one PM me a link to download.I can't believe it.......Anyhooo back to my thoughts.....i wish 2004 could have been more. I remember seeing them at the Staple's Center and yes it was great to "Van Halen" but i knew Ed wasn't all together...i kept thinking....." damn....it's great to see ed but man he's a bit sloppy"....anyhoo....i'm happy for the diehard roth fans who got to see VH4....and i hope they continue.... even though i wont go because I'm a "no MA no Mas"..fan..... That's my thought......i still feel stung from 2004......like "damn Ed....I wish you'd taken it more serious..."

The show I saw in Anaheim must've been the night the stars aligned. I saw zero problems from beginning to end.

albuquerque rocked. During that stretch up to the show I heard and read mostly good reviews. Las Vegas was the disaster show that was apparent. Overall I think it's overblown a bit. That's to be expected though. sensationalism is alive & well in rock & roll as well. One good thing out of it is that we have Roth and Wolfie now. That's how I feel. see ya.
If eddie were down and out on a sidewalk playing guitar I'd be next to him with a bottle and a blanky braving the cold. I would be sucking my thumb happily making chupa chupa noises in sync with the petroglyphic sounds that came from the mighty finger tips of Edward Van Halen.

Montreal 11/9 and Hamilton 11/10 are the two worst performances I'd ever heard a professional performing act give. Atlanta doesn't hold a candle to the level of suck those two shows were on.

As for MY show, 7/19 in Chicago, I saw no issues, either. I caught them on, after listening to about half the tour via boots, one of their best nights, aside from Ed's multiple cord trips that got rather annoying. I try to say that without bias too, I really do believe the band was at their best that night as far as the tour is concerned. But this is coming from a then giddy 12 year old who couldn't believe he was seeing his favorite band on stage. Still, reflecting, it really wasn't a bad show.

Best of the tour? Ames 11/4, Toronto 7/3, or Arizona 8/5. I'd say those along with Chicago were probably the best shows of the entire trip, then again I haven't heard the other half of the tour...

My show at Staples was great.

Being in Ed's pit didn't hurt. Got to sing some of ATBL, got a pick from Matt, high fives from Sam and Mike.

The only thing that stung in '04 for me personally was Alex's eventually inaccurate statement that a new album was planned and in the works.

My Vegas show wasn't horrible, but it wasn't anything special either.

Granted, mileages varied wide on that tour. As on this one as well.

I saw the Pittsburgh, Hershey and Cleveland shows. The Hershey show wasn't all that good and the volume was shit. When I can just stand and talk to the person next to me the band just isn't loud enough. Cleveland was a good show, but as Squalen said being in the pit on Edwards side made it much better. Getting my FUCK CD signed by Sammy and getting high fives from Mike, Edward and Sam didn't hurt one bit. All I can say is that I was way more satisfied with that show than the DLR show I saw this year. $125 a piece for two shit ass seats doesn't compare to $200 a piece for two tickets in the rings.

I saw them here in KC in '04. Ed was a complete mess. I left the show early. I won't make the mistake of paying to see live Van Halen ever again. So, yeah -- I feel the sting. It's too bad.

I thought they were average when I saw them in DC.

Mike was good, Al was great as usual. Ed was pretty bad on most of the songs, and Sam was starting to piss me off like Dave does sometimes. He was signing shit and high fiving more than he was singing.

They just were not sharp like you would expect a veteran rock act to be.

Unchained was awesome though! Thought the roof was going to collapse!
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

    Preferred pronouns: he/him/his

Hurricane Halen - Let's all gingery touch our sword tips!!!

I was at the St.Louis and Chicago shows. The only issue I had was that Eddie was playing a bit "sloppy", thats all. All I wanted to see was Hagar back with VH, thats why I travelled to the US to see them. I'm very pissed off though, cause I was expecting a album afterwards.......
