Default Is Sammys new album coming out or not?

Whats happening with Sammys new album? Is it coming or not. I've heard some stories that hes only recording for itunes now and no more new CDs. If he is, that stinks. Sammy cant give in to itunes, especially when some of us dont have ipods (like me). I'm old school.
So please Sammy, I hope the new CD is on the agenda. There was a rumor last year of him getting back to the hard rock sound like "Standing Hampton".

Most people don't have an iPod, but you can still use iTunes to purchase music and then burn it to CDs. I don't blame you for wanting a CD though. I like purchasing an actual CD versus downloading music - you get the music uncompressed in full quality on a physical disc, plus some artwork and liner notes - but Sammy won't have to worry about a record contract or distribution if he goes the iTunes route.

I read an interview where Sammy seemed to be toying with the idea out loud of releasing only to Itunes because it's so much easier and faster to produce and distribute. He also mentioned that he would still have to do CDs though.

Personally, I prefer to buy the CD and transfer it to my Ipod. Call me slightly old school. That way, if the Ipod crashes, I don't have to worry about if the back-up was recent or not. Hasn't happened yet, but...

And to answer your question- YES!! Sammy is currently in the studio. At least that was in the last article I read about his plans.

I prefer the disc as well. I don't like burning discs and wasting the time creating my on case for it for my CD racks.

Whatever happened to Chicken Foot? I read an article on Billboard's page on Chad Smith where he talked about it still being on and that Joe Satriani had joined the mix.

I haven't bought a cd in about 7 years. There is really no point. Most bands don't doing anything special with teh package insert.

The only exception seems to be pearl jam, they still put time and effort into the product. The last two garbage best of disk that VH put out didn't have squat in them...

Sammy is right it would be easy to make some music through it up on Itunes. He's such a niche artist at this point, he could probably just post it to his site and have his fans download it there for a little more than what I tunes charges, and he'd make the same amount of money.

Someone who isn't a sammy hagar fan right now, is not going to go buy any of his music...its just not going to happen.

If he does a Best of Both World duet with Hannah Montana he could score big!

Sammy is very much pioneering the whole "straight to itunes" release idea. When I talked to Jeff Pilson of Foreigner in January, he felt it was a very cool idea and a very good way to take the music directly to the fans.
I have over 300 CDs myself and still buy from my absolutely favorite bands, but when Open came out it was cool to just click and have it for a dollar.

Jeff Pilson is in Foreigner now? I remember back when he was in Dokken and then Lynch Mob.

Who sings for Foreigner now by the way, since Lou Gramm is in poor health?
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

    Preferred pronouns: he/him/his

Kelly Hansen is the singer. Here's a link to their site...

Sammy and the Wabos are currently in the studio recording new music. If he releases a full CD is still up in the air. He has in the recent past talked about releasing one song to itunes on a regular interval. Then when they are all released maybe putting them on a CD and selling it for something like $10.00.

The cost of making a CD with a minimal return on his investment(57,000 units was the last # I seen for Livin It Up)made Sam re- think how he was gonna get his music out to the people who want it.As always, I'm buying what he's selling no matter how he sells it.

The path established first by Radiohead and adopted by Nine Inch Nails seems to be the way to go: Offer it for download on the internet for as little as 5 bucks (or even free for a hand full of tracks) and make "collectible" versions available for purchase up to 300 dollars. The hard copy can also be bought in select retail outlets for around 10-16 dollars for those that desire it.

The concept makes sense, as it appeases the hard core fan and the casual observer.

Chef, could you further explain....and make "collectible" versions available for purchase up to 300 dollars?
