Hot for Teacher wasn't bad. But after that was just like falling head first down Everest.

Ugh, I remember in 2004 I may have thought that was OKAY just because I was so pumped that VH was back and would take any music they could throw at me, no matter how shitty it was. But, damn... that was the biggest piece of fucking garbage I have heard in a long time. Embarassing. Sounds like when I first started playing guitar when I was 13 and recorded ridiculous, what I thought was a "solo" on my computer with my little headset mic. Eeeeshhh.

I'm still in shock with myself that I actually paid for 3 shows on that tour, when Eddie was playing like that.

But to tell you the truth...If I had to choose between that excitement....and what I was feeling before the 2007 show in Toronto....I'd pick that excitement any day! (Maybe it was because I had a 5 Star....but let's not talk about that anymore )

Ummm.....this really scares me...because when I first started learning how to play when I was 14.....I used to record myself......................with a headset microphone. No joke.

I'll be honest with you man, that Toronto show was by far one of the best concerts I have ever been to in my life. I remember shaking in anticipation before the show, then when the lights went down , Ed just went to town and the crowd just lost it... one of the greatest feelings ever. Awesome fucking show. It's just looking back now... his playing was sub-par, indeed. I was at the Hamilton show as well, and that was definitely a sad day in VH history. I still enjoyed the show, just for the fact I was with my buddies rocking out to VH, but you have to agree in saying that was definitely a depressing day, looking back in terms of that chapter of the band.

haha, that's awesome!! I used to do it all the time with my little 15 watt fender amp and my Squier, black/white AFFINITY strat. I didn't even have a recording program, I just used the generic windows recorder that lets you record for 30 seconds. I still have those recordings, I literally started recording the first day I got my guitar on Christmas and used to tap with a pick and thought it was the best sounding thing in the universe haha. Ah good times.

HFT was pretty good. Sounded a little off, and I think the tone had a lot to do with that, or the sustainer. Something wasn't right, but at least he played it fine. I love how Al just randomly breaks into it, too. Pretty spontaneous, I like that. The rest, however, was horrid.

My two year old cousin could probably play Little Guitars better than he did there. A total abortion...of his OWN SOLO.

I didn't need any reminder of how terrible Eddie sounded in 2004...
at the very least he has had much better nights in 2007 & some of 2008.

Just remembered I have one DVD boot and a couple of audio boots from 2004 that I have never watched or listened to twice....anyone else experience the same?

Wow, that is truly horrible. He really does sound like a beginner there. I play better than that in my basement, and I'm not really a good player. He sounds absolutely hammered when he's talking into the mic. Let's hope those days are gone for good.

If that Fender amp you had....was a Frontman 15. I'm going to shit my pants.

I had a Barracuda Les Paul Copy.

    You're abosolutely right!

Van Halen....Toronto July 3rd 2004.... is THE best concert I have ever seen...and it will be the best concert I WILL EVER see.

I could see a reunited Led Zeppelin WITH BONZO back from the grave.....it still wouldn't top that experience in Toronto July 3rd 2004.

I met too many cool people and I talked to Eddie van Halen......nothing can top that. I just hope I NEVER get alzheimers because I always want to have that memory!
