I think this was sometime around 1993. It is a benefit put on by Neil Young. Ed actually joined Sam on stage for acoustic versions of Best of Both Worlds, Love Walks In, Spanish Fly and Right Now. I have a decent boot and would love to hear cleaned up versions.

they also have an early acoustic version of "the love" availible on ITUNES from one of those performances, I downloaded it the other day and it's pretty good. I wish they'd put the Eddie/Sammy acoustic stuff on there cause that was pretty damn cool, especially when Sam introduces Ed as "a wonderful human being and my best friend"....or something like that.

Brent, I am positive that I downloaded the EVH/Hagar performance at The Bridge School Benefit a few years ago over at http://www.guitars101.com .
(Naturally, they were on another computer. ) It just might be worth a search over there for them if you or BTTB are interested in finding them.

In fact, I need to re-register there myself.

I think i too dl'd it from guitars101 once upon a time...just did a quick search, think i burned it to cd and erased it from the hd. Have to hunt around! Might be on my ipod. As a side note, the g101 site is dead as far as i can see...i haven't visited it in some time but it's no longer coming up. Thanks for the heads-up regardless chef.

From what I recall, you are not missing all that much, as during this performance Ed hardly plays the piano with the finesse he once showed on guitar.

I love hearing him play "Right Now" on piano. I think he did a pretty good job at this concert.

Actually, I think all those tracks with Ed were great. I need to dig them up. Which ones were on I-Tunes? How do they sound? All I have is the boots.

perhaps you'd be willing to share the boot copies of these tunes you have? Many of us have somehow 'lost' them...

The songs availible on Itunes are:

    FWYS
    Fillmore Shuffle
    Amnesty is Granted
    Give to Live
    The Love

Amnesty is granted is pretty good, this is way before he let meatloaf record it and waaaay before the MTM version. For some reason it's just got alot of emotion behind it, same with the love-I do wish he kept it as "ever since you came" from HSAS cause that song is AWSOME.

In 93 Sam did Give to live and The love, then he introduced Eddie as his "dear friend and a wonderful human being" and they did:

    Love Walks In
    Right Now
    Spanish Fly
    Best of Both Worlds

I think Ed played the piano great and the songs have a real sense of "purity" when heard this way...they're both pretty damn awsome IMO. Ed rips out spanish flay pretty much note for note and BOBW is dead on. I've got them on my IPOD but don't know where the CD I got them from is....they are over at Guitars101 in a thread about acoustic VH performances.....

just thought I'd throw that out there...
