Default Bob Geldof With Bush In Africa: Great Read

Geldof toured Africa with President Bush on this last trip. He kept a journal which is published in Time:

    Time well spent.

I kinda wish they had gone through with the Iraq conversation, but I respect Geldof for handling it the way he did.

He handled it the only way he logically could. Bush said, "History will prove me right." Geldof responded, "Who knows." I don't think we have a true historical equivalent to this conflict, and recent trends show things moving in a positive direction.

Absolutely nobody knows how this will end. We can all guess, but nobody knows for sure. That is a smart answer, IMO.

True enough. I'm referring more to the opportunity he had to really engage Bush on the subject; he chose to keep the subject brief and move on, when he could have let the guy know in detail what he thinks. And he probably could have created a bigger story for himself in the process.

I always think it's interesting how profound and eloquent Bush is in everyday conversation, but then you put him behind a podium and you get Dubya on Parade.

I wouldn't believe if I hadn't seen video and audio of it occurring myself. Much like every president, I think Bush will be looked more favorably on decades from now rather than villified like he is now.

Of course, a lot of that depends on the future courses of action taken in Iraq.
CNN may think my opinion matters, but you shouldn't.
