    Default '91 EBMM EVH?

    http://cgi.ebay.com/Ernie-Ball-EVH-S...QQcmdZViewItem

    It's in beautiful condition.
    What do you guys think?
    Legit?

Didn't the early EVH models carry the AXIS logo?

I have a '91, no Axis logo on it. Looks 100% legit to me.

i think the axis was a proto name while the guitar was being developed.
i've heard of several ernie ball guitars carrying the name, with eventualy being changed when the guitars went into prduction, i think the alvin lee model was also named the axis until production began.

I would just check the ser no with EB, just to make sure Sure looks good though !! . The AXIS name was originally going to be what became the Albert Lee sig model . I have heard that they stopped working on Alberts guitar, once they got Ed on board !! and Albert was a bit miffed at this !! I think Ed had a few necks on his protos with the AXIS name on them . Here are a couple of pics of Alberts guitar, before it became his sig model .

I've never been much of a purple guitar fan, but that may be one of the nicest quilt tops I've seen. It kind of looks like silk sheets. The guy lucked out and got one that didn't fade to gray like a lot of the purple ones did.

You know, I've always preferred the Wolfs. I just bought a '99 standard. But if I hadn't bought that guitar, I'd have probably bid on this one. That guitar is beautiful. I think that's the best looking quilt I've ever seen.

If you are bidding Dino, good luck. What is the market value on an EBMM of this vintage (I know in other threads we've talked how the Wolfs are all over the place)?

Hey Dino! You have some of the best paint jobs I've seen on guitars. I can see where your eye comes from now (because you can spot 'em like this one).

    Thanks cokemack1!
    That's one helluva compliment!

I emailed the the seller and asked for a serial number so I could confirm year/color with EBMM, but have yet to recieve a response.
It's a beautiful guitar. Unfortunately, the fact that the seller can't provide a serial number and can't even find the time to respond to emails, is a red flag to me as to how this transaction may go.

Looks legit. The pickup selector switch is in the right spot for the EVH. But I wouldn't do anythig without that serial number. I also find it odd that he didn't show a pic of the back of the headstock with the serial number as most people who know what this is would want to see it!

I asked him a question this morning myself asking for a picture of the headstock and he hasn't responded to my e-mail either. If it's real I'd love to have it!!

actually the serials for ebmm is on the neck plate but the fact tha he wants a wire transfer is crazy. also the low bid on this guitar. this is a very rare guitar in the fact that its first yr and the purple hasnt faded. this would go for around 2500 to 3000 if not more.

I've been watching these guitars for awhile now and I've noticed the prices have really jumped just within the last couple months. I'd go as far to say that if this is in fact a legitimate EBMM EVH in it's original condition, it would go for $2500-$3000 easy regardless of the year it was manufactured.

Unfortunately, there are just way too many "red flags" in his auction and the fact that the seller refuses to respond to any emails makes me too uncomfortable to persue it.
