Would You Clone Your Beloved Pet?

We all have to deal with the death of our beloved pets at some time or another. For some, that loss, like the loss of any loved one, can be very hard to cope with. The option of cloning your lost companion may one day be an affordable possibility.

    Would you??

    No.

A Clone will not be the same animal, personality-wise.

I had a great Siamese cat named Tiki. Tiki was the coolest cat in the history of cats. We got him when I was 8 and he lived almost 18 years. He was the best friend I ever had and the mellowest cat I've ever met.

If I were to clone him there is no way to ensure that I would get the exact same cat. Sure, he'd look exactly the same but that's it.

I've had other great cats since and that's the way it's supposed to be, meeting new souls along the way.

Ya know I would not. When I had to put my dog Abby to sleep two years ago I was devastated!! Shortly after her death my Aunt rescued me a new little doggy daughter named Molly. Molly is the most wonderful little dog, I would have never known her had I just had Abby cloned. So many great animals out there need forever family's. With all that said, Molly looks a lot like Abby does, personality wise they are complete opposites.

Absolutely not! I wouldn't want to look at that kitty all day and think of my beloved Ozzy. It would be sad. I also don't agree with the ones that get them stuffed when they die either. Too many memories...yes there are way too many animals waiting to be adopted in shelters. And it's alot cheaper to adopt than to clone.

Nope. You can't "relive" shit. Ask anyone that has gone to "Walt Disney World" looking for "Mr. Toad's Wild Ride", the pavilion that held Eastern Airlines' "If You Had Wings" or the "G.E. Carousel Of Progress".

Fuck a duck, even "20,000 Leagues Under The Sea" is gone.

Memories are wonderful. For some of us, they are all we have to hold on to. Yet to set out to "recreate" them, sounds disturbing, not to mention pathologically wrong.

    No. That's fucking sick.

I always wanted to clone myself and be my own drummer though.

Nah, as pointed out, while it would look like fluffy or whatever, it's going to be bought up differnet, thus be different in nature. So whats the point?

There are some people living in my complex here whose pets I hope will shove off soon. Why would I want them cloning these little shit-bombing, yapping demons?

Okay, so lets say we fast forward 20 years from now and you can back-up your pet's memories and if/when anything happens to them you can go to the cloning centre, and get your pet years younger with the memories they had in their first life.

Would you clone your beloved pet?

I doubt I'll be alive in twenty years. And it's highly unlikely that anyone will be around that liked me enough to clone me, let alone one of my pets.

No, I wouldn't or couldn't clone either of my dogs. I'd feel like I was betraying them - or something weird like that.
