    Guitar modeling software?

Not even sure if that is what you even call it!! LOL

...Anyhow....do they do a good job at re-creating the amps they claim to model?

Like the new Peavey Re-valver or say Guitar Rig?

Seems like a great cost effective alternative when you look at what they include for models but not so much if they dont re-create what those amps sounds like.

Anyone here have any of these? Pros and Cons? Should i upgrade my desktop POS speakers to say studio style monitors??

...And last but not least....best product for around $500.00??

I have a Pod XT, I really like it for home use, and I just use it through my computer speakers or even my headphones. You can get studio monitors if you want to get a real nice sound for home mixing, etc. Actually in my band we used the Pod for both of our guitars on our CD and nobody even knows we did. They came out sounding just fine.

Here's an example of one of the songs, all on the Pod.

Depends on your application. I had a VOX modeling amp that I thought sounded great, but didn't cut through the mix while playing live. Higher volumes it sounded not as good as a tube amp. If you are just using it at home for your own amusement, or for recording a modeling amp is fine, and you would probably be happy with one.

Sorry, disregard my above post. Guitar modeling SOFTWARE!

I have a Guitar Port, and it's okay. It gets pretty close. The speakers do make a huge difference. I had been using my standard Dell speakers with it for a long time, and it didn't sound great. I spent about 35bucks on an Altec Lansing powered speaker set with the subwoofer at Wal-Mart, and the difference is incredible.

Pod X3 does it all. Two Amps at once and all the mod-packs of the xt. Brett my man, you need to upgrade.

its also worth maybe upgrading you soundcard (unless you already have)
the differences if you are using your p.c. to record are worth it...less latency for example is just one of the improvments i notoced straight away.
