    Default WSOP 2008

Last night, Fri. feb 15th, I was fortunate enough to be invited to play in a very special No-Limit Texas Hold em poker tournement.

There were 27 people invited to this special freeroll that was hosted at a restaurant called "Cafe Europa".

The deal was simple: when the tournement got to heads-up, the tourney was over and the top 2 were awarded quite a special prize--An all-expenses paid trip and entry into the 2008 wsop no-limit hold em main event...the one where jamie Gold won $12.5 million, and everyone at the final table is guaranteed at least one million in cash...that WSOP.

When the game was over and all the smoke cleared, i found myself in the position of top 2 and earned myself the coveted prize.

I knew i had a decent chance, but now that ive won, im still trying to get my feet back on the ground!

July 3rd til ? WSOP las vegas,nevada... less than a month after TLW IV...does it get any better??!

Awesome, Pert!!! Best of luck out there! That's unbelievable.

You should advertise for VHLinks while there; maybe a hat or a shirt.

Wow, thx for all the thx!
Im just some slob who took advantage of a great opportunity..theres still @ 8,000 players to wade through..i think the money starts at top 800...we'll see soon i guess.

Funny thing is that i made it to top 2 by a couple of plays...
You have to get lucky at least once to win any tourney and i did get lucky one time when a K hit the river to outboat someone who boated a flop..

But the real reason i made it, and in my view the real secret to success in getting paid in hold em tourneys is not from the hands you play, but rather from the hands you dont play or fold.
I folded AJ, AQ preflop a few times, as well as middle pocket and small pocket prs, based on position and the action and the stack i had..but i believe the real reason i was able to manage my stack to the end was by folding AK preflop.. And it was a tough fold, believe it or not, considering my position and the circumstances under which i did it, but it turned out to be a great fold at that moment ( a donkey caught a boat to felt the other guy in the hand who happened to play AK...which would have taken my stack down to technically a short stack..) and the 600 or so chips i saved came in handy later, at a more important juncture, which is the reason i finally did fold the AK..

Anyway, if i become lucky enough to cash and then in real money, like 7 zeroe's,..there will be a TLW V like we've never seen, although topping any of those fiesta's is a huge challenge!

Yeah that's all good but my 5 year old plays a mean "go fish".

    Congrats & good luck!!!

Pert, is this the one that is shown on the "Travel Channel" or the one one "ESPN"? Either way, let us know if it is indeed broadcasted, it would be cool to see ya on tv!

    Best of luck, my friend.

My roomate in college qualified for that two years ago by playing online. He was out by the end of the first day...

I told him to fold anything except pocket aces for the first day.

    He clearly didn't listen.

He might have. If he did that he would have been blinded to death and had no chips before the end of day one.
