How Do You UPLOAD Music To The Internet?

It's not that I think the handful of crummy tunes that I've decomposed and recorded make me "Joe Bitchin" or anything, yet out of morbid curiosity a few people might be interested in them.

Look, when it comes to finding porn on the internet, I'm without peer. Embedding videos? Piece of cake. Adding images as punchlines to posts? I'm the man. Yet when it comes to putting music online, I am indeed clueless.

So... I have a CD of my stuff in one hand, and I've managed to get the tray-thing that it goes into on the computer tower opened with the other. NOW WHAT? (I have RealPlayer installed, I believe that is necessary. I also hope that this does not entail dealing with "myspace". While the concept of fraternizing with teen-aged girls appeals to a part of me, their parents, my conscience and various law enforcement departments believe this to be a rather ill-conceived idea. )

Any assistance would be appreciated by me, although once you actually hear some of this junk, you may not feel as grateful.

I think "Joe Bitchin" is a great name! You should keep it.

You also need a place to put your music so people can find it, much like a Putfile account for images. Myspace works okay (ech), so does any P2P site like Limewire, but it's better to have a page like Myspace (ech) because people can look at pictures of you and sample your songs before they download them.
Also, you can sell your signature-model guitar straps ($200), picks ($15.95/ea), t-shirts ($85), empty candy bar wrappers ($44.95), cigarette butts ($6.99/ea buy two and save!!), broken guitar strings ($19.95)...

Get a FTP program like SmartFTP, upload them to your MySpace, your own personal webspace with your ISP, or wherever you can find webspace. Then, start a thread here and provide the links.

That is quite the claim to fame there. Your family must be proud.

Just out of curiousity, do you get a trophy or something for that?
(I want to see what your internet punchline pictures can come up with )

For putting music on the internet (i.e. MySpace for me or your own websites) I use a website called Fileden.com. Just make a free account which you'll have privacy to your stuff and have 1 GB of storage or you can pay for 5, 10, or 15 GB of space and for putting on the music which this code should work

    <embed src="url_of_song" width="280" height="45"></embed>

I've only tried this on mp3's so hopefully this'll help. PM if you got anymore Questions.
A recent study shows 92% of the teenage population likes rap music. If you are part of the 8% who listen to real music, put this as your sig.

As a matter of fact, the porn industry sends out an award annually to it's leading afficianados. Here's a photo of my ex-wife holding the trophy while I snapped the picture.

heh heh...I didn't know you were married to Annika Sorenstam. Nice.

By the way, what else can she do with that trophy?

Folks, I'd like to thank each and everyone of ya'll for helping me out with this.

No "chef-style" wise-assed baloney, I'm being quite sincere. It's deeply appreciated, from the heart.

I wound up with a "myspace-type" thing, as it proved the easiest of the things that I tried out. It was an adventure for my feeble old brain, I'll admit.

I'll post details about these tunes later, in the appropriate forum. Suffice to say, they are pretty much demos. Personally, I like the way they sound-then again, I wrote 'em.

That's me playing the clunky, overly distorted bass. Like I said, I like that sound.

Thank you all again for the PM's and more importantly, the support. It means quite a lot to me.

And Bullwinkle? "ANGEL" still blows chunks all over the dashboard, barring for their first record.

Very nice tunes, Chef. Are you using any production software after you have recorded your stuff?

    Thanks, my friend.

"203" was a considered effort, stuff I am quite clueless about. I played my bass and added a guitar here and there, added suggestions for the mix, then hit the pub.

Honestly Mish, on the other two we hung 4-5 mikes and simply played. What you hear is what we got, with a bit of room ambiance. The only "post production" was sliding the mike faders to get a tape mix.

I like the guitar tones. I can hear a lot of Punky influence.

You nailed it, spot on. Now shut up, so I can go post a link in the "myspace" thread, and write long, ego-filled explanations/apologies for this dorky stuff.

Actually I like the "live" vibe of the songs, it has the energy of the performance! But I suppose you guys want to go further , and it would also be great to listen to your songs with a studio-like production. All you have to do really is get all instrumental tracks loaded into a software where you can control the mix with a 100% what-you-hear-is-what-you-get result. That's what I do with my band's songs - first record instruments thru the multitrack/mixer, then upload them to the computer and go to the next stage.

I work with Cubase and in my opinion it's the most user-friendly program ever, I mean I have to work with ProTools integrated with 128-track recording panel in my uni studios and IMO Cubase is alot easier to get a hand on. Here's the link - http://www.studica.com/Steinberg/ind...FRPXXgodQD_LzQ , I use Steinberg Cubase SE 3 which costs only a hundret bucks. Whatever computer you have it will run on it, and I can tell you - editing your songs adds a whole new level of fun to songwriting .
