Default Wolfgang trade for Hot For Teacher?

Ok, it may be hard to get an answer or advice without posting pictures, but I am considering trading my Black Wolfgang for a NEW Kramer Hot For Teacher replica. My Wolfgang was purchased new by me in 1996 when they first came out. It's perfect other than a few rivet wear marks on the back. (indentations). Its the deluxe model with the binding, hard case, fret protector etc.... The Hot For Teacher replica I am thinking about trading it for is perfect. It was made by a very good friend of mine that works for the Gibson Custom Shop in Nashville. One of his specialties is making EVH replicas. (He does them on the side). I have purchased 2 other replicas from him and they are flawless. The paint job on the Hot For Teacher is factory quality or better. It is a USA Kramer Body and neck. When I say it is identical to the Hot For Teacher guitar, I am serious. It is exactly like it, right down to the stripe pattern and pickup mounted on the body of the guitar. It plays and sounds incredible. It is comparible to the EVH Charvel's, but in my opinion much nicer. My only concern is that the Wolfgang will be worth a lot of money down the road and I would be foolish for letting it go. At this time, it is fair to say the two guitars are in equal value of each other. $1300-$1500. Personally, I do not care for the Wolfgang that much and I have played it very little. I have a Red Ernie Ball Musicman EVH that I like much better!! Over the years I have amassed over 30 guitars and really am not that emotionally attached to the Wolfgang. For some reason I associate the Wolfgang with the VHIII era and can't get past that stigmatism. Overall it's a good quality guitar, but I am more attracted to the Hot For Teacher model simply because it is a one of a kind, hand made high quality product. ADVICE??????????????? Yeh, it sounds like I have made up my mind, but I really don't want to make an insane decision. After all, I am thinking about trading an actual EVH branded guitar for a replica.
As usual, there is a great woman behind every idiot.

I have the same Wolfgang you have, '96 Pat Pending black Standard. Unless you're in a VH cover band, or just want a striped VH guitar for posterity, I never have really seen the joy in owning one. And I certainly wouldn't trade my better guitars for one. I have one I built, I never play it, it just hangs on my wall to look cool.

I don't know I'm just not big into the striped stuff, I'd rather have guitars I can play out. Even if I was, I wouldn't trade a first year Wolf for one, no matter how nice it is. You can build one yourself for half the price of your Wolf.

Dude I would hang onto the Wolf if I were you. I've owned 3 and sold off 2 and deeply regret both of those sales...

If you've already got 30 guitars, what's one more?

Keep the Wolfgang and buy the replica.

I have to say that I agree with the others. You will end up kicking yourself in a few years, when they are big bucks and scarce. Just save the $$ for the HFT guitar.
If you put aside $100/week it will take you 15 weeks and then it's all yours. (or $150/week... just over 2 months) Good Luck!

I have a 97 black Wolfgang "patent pending" and I wouldn't trade it for the striped guitar you described... c'mon, what's one more guitar?

I can't imagine trading one of my Wolfs for anything; they are absolutely my favorite guitar. And the bit Brett said about not being able to play a striped guitar out is dead on.

That being said, I think you already know what you want to do. You said you don't have an emotional attachment to the Wolf and own 30-plus guitars. Do what you must...

No freakin' way should you let that Wolf you described go. Especially one that early.

Just buy the replica. Or build one later.
