I was listening to Styx and Meatloaf.

Something happened after another Hotel California and Do You Feel Like We Do.

i was actually thinking about this milestone earlier today...i was only 6 yrs old at the time, but nonetheless, when i was first exposed to this album in the early 80's it blew me away...30 years is a long time, congrats to the band for their longevity.
...and in the end, on dreams we will depend...

I learned that there was something better than Ted Nugent and that you could really play the shit out of a guitar. I learned that you could have songs with a balls-out driving rythmn that weren't about killing people or breaking stuff.

I learned that it was okay to push yourself as a guitar player.

I heard "Jamie's Crying", and I've loved them ever since. There never has been, or never will be any band that has changed my life like Van Halen!!

It was in 1996 when I first heard Van Halen I. I was ten nine or ten years old and it changed my life. Now I have EVH inked on my arm and I still love Van Halen!

I was only 6 at the time, and didn't really get into VH until late 1983, just before '84 came out, my bro got Diver Down for Christmas.

It changed my life. I still have the 8 track my bro had of the first album. Keepsake (I still remember that Little Dreamer got split up between programs (I think 3 & 4?) and to this day, when Dave sings "least likely to succeed", it always surprises me that the music doesn't fade out and then come back after a clicking sound).

This album had much more of an impact on music than it gets credit for. I've always felt that way and will continue to do so. Groundbreaking for guitar.

Well I think the fact that we are all here tells you how much it changed our lives.

I was nine years old. But I don't think I head them until at least a year later. My older brother played me "Runnin' With The Devil." I loved it right away. I distinctly remember thinking the lyric was "When I jumped on Onion Road." I swear for probably 2-3 years I thought he said "onion road." Ah... youth.
