You know that special moment from Toronto '95...

During Big Fat Money, right after the solo, when Sammy sings with the drums banging, Eddie hit the tapping, drum fill and BOOM! the whole band is rocking out! To me, that's possibly the one greatest Van Halen moment ever. You can really see that, even with the problems they had at the time, they still loved playing together and they were "a band".

    Here's the video:

You can see it ar 02:00 onwards.

Also, from the same PPV, I think the way they opened with Right Now is pure awesomeness! Dreams always gets me all fired up, it's such a great version of the song! This is whole show is my favorite to watch when I'm getting drunk.

haha yeh before I go out into town me and my buddies watch this while downing the drinks. Good call.

And yeh, on Right Now after the Van Halen LIVE lettering fades and Eddie comes striding out onto the stage is one of the best Van Halen moments ever.....

I always liked when Ed did that kind of half a jumping jack jumping (2:16)...that is so cool

...wow, and here I thought this thread was going to be about "Eagles Fly" when the band kicks in for the final chorus and Ed solos through the outro of the song.

For my money, I honestly don't know if I've EVER been moved by 2:00 of music quite the way I was (and still am) when I heard Ed's lead on that outro...there wasn't a single off (or even questionable) note.

And to me, the lead that Ed plays during that song puts into music EVERYTHING Sam was trying to convey when he wrote "Eagles Fly".

As far as Toronto 95 goes, the best moment to me was during Right Now, when Ed launches into the solo and the crowd just crescendo's with their applause in utter appreciation......still gives me chills.

I know what ya mean, me too. It's funny 'cause you kinda wouldn't expect a band to be that great after so many years together, but I guess that's what makes VH that special...

That always gave me the goosebumps as well. However it almost sounds like they increased the volume of the crowd in the mix when Ed kicks into the solo.

Now that you mention it I believe that Ed's guitar wasn't even plugged in. Basically his guitar parts were piped in. At least...those are the notes I've gotten.

Call me jaded or cynical but to me everything this band has ever done is rehearsed. From lying about their ages when the first album came out to what moves they make onstage. It's all an act. Right down to that shit eating grin Ed had on his mouth during the eighties.....all an act.

They are great showman, and the brothers Van Halen learned from their Pops, and DLR, fit right in with it, and the Bros are teaching it to Wolfgang today.

IMO, 90% of anything they have ever done onstage is rehearsed!

Don't shoot the messenger for those of you who disagree.

i like the 1:30 mark here. right after mike takes a verse, sam has ed sing. he shows a nice bluesy voice. much better than that crap on vh3. also right after that when the camera guy shoots a guy in the crowd, he points the cameraman another way.....to some hot chicks. pretty funny.

this is a great show. love it.
