Default VH picks new opening act- Ryan Shaw

Van Halen Taps Ryan Shaw For Opening Slot

Classic rockers Van Halen, who are in the midst of a successful nostalgia outing, have recruited soul singer Ryan Shaw to take over the tour's opening slot later this month.

Shaw climbs on board on Feb. 22 in Charlottesville, VA, taking over for current support act Ki-Mani Marley--son of reggae legend Bob Marley--who has been opening for Van Halen since the group's semi-reunion tour launched last fall.

Last month, Shaw picked up his first Grammy nomination in the Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance category for "I Am Your Man," a track featured on his debut album, "This Is Ryan Shaw."

Never heard the tour called a semi-reunion but it's appropriate all the same. Not sure about that opening act tho.

It's not a true reunion without Mark Stone
Wolfie is not Mike, but he's more than ok.
Mike is gone, but not forgotten. They played some amazing shows from 2007-2015; some people are in denial about it.

When they came to Portland in '04, it was Rose Hill Drive...a hard rock trio. Reviews were mixed on these forums, but I thought they were good.

Seems that they're trying to bring something musically different on tour, as opposed to another hard rock band. Personally, I appreciate it. The Stones are good at that, too. Encouraging people to broaden their musical horizons a little bit and give a listen to someone they might not normally think about going to hear.
