    Default Michael Jackson: Thriller 25

Check out the remix of "Beat It", featuring Fergie. Eddie's solo seems to have been brought up in the mix. It's streaming for free at...

To this day, that solo just makes me want to scream, "FUCK YEAH!!!!"

With regards to the 'Thriller' album, you have to give it to Jackson. Truly one of the greatest albums of all time...

Wow 25 years already? Seems like it just came out. I never bought the entire album tho, just the 45's that came out.

Love the Halenized Beat It tune.

Let me clarify... One of the greatest "pop" albums of all time. I wouldn't consider it "urban". Anyway, it was the best selling album of all time for a while. There has to be something said about that. Not really my cup of tea but a major accomplishment none-the-less.

Dearest Christ, I suddenly feel very old...I distinctly recall purchasing this album at "Sid's West" in the Lakes Mall (State Road 7 and Oakland Park Blvd.) and then driving to my friend and fellow guitarist Benji's house to listen to Ed Van Halen's guitar solo on the title track. Our buddy John was also there...we must have played the damned thing over and over about 5 or 6 times.

25 FUCKING years ago ? Crap, it's no wonder that I can get injured while sleeping these days.

it still is the best selling album of album worldwide. by a good margin I think. In the US it has been surpassed by the Eagles first greatest hits album.

Really? Where does one go to purchase an "album of album"?

Michael introduces Eddie at about 2:15 into the song. Would have been cool to see that live.

Doesn't Lukather play rhythm on Beat It?

I don't care if it was for Michael Jackson. That solo Eddie did for Beat It, it's definitely one of my favorites of all time. It makes you want to pick up the guitar (and fail at playing the solo ).

Speaking of that, here's a pretty good article\translation about that solo:

Beat it isn't the title track. That would be Thriller - a song which my two young sons (9 and 7) love. Go figure.
