This guy is fucking awesome!! I think his name is Pete Thorn, he plays in the Chris Cornell band. Check out this vid he's just playing random riffs but there are a few Van Halen riffs in there among others.

What gets me is not the actual playing, as there are a few flubs here and there (and I'm sorry, unless one happens to be a computer or a 9 year old Japanese kid, there are going to be a few "whoops" in any cover/copy). It's the actual sound, the startling tonality of the damned thing.

I was all set to use the yawning gremlin then sarcastically post a video of some dude playing the piece on a cello by way of stating how tedious and non-eventful these "Here's my version of a Tom Waits' tune" youtube covers have gotten over the years, yet this truly caught me off guard.

Quite inspired, and well done. Thanks for the find, mike.

He might be using guitar port or something like that. I saw Dweezil Zappa demo-ing something like it at he got Back in Black and the Eruption tone....to a T!

The tone is the CLOSEST I have ever heard somebody get. But I think he has guitar port or something.

Get your viewing in now cause I wouldn't be surprised if Ed's lawyers take this off....just like Jfrocks.com

    Great find all together....Thank You!

Wow, that is awesome. Is there any way to save youtube video's on your harddrive? I'm afraid it will get pulled before my sloppy playing skillz can learn it in time.

I am not even guitar player and just watched the whole damn thing. Pretty impressive to me.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

    Preferred pronouns: he/him/his

Hurricane Halen - Let's all gingery touch our sword tips!!!

Shit! The way he dissected parts of the solo is the way I approached it. You can't just jump in and play it from beginning to end. You'd end up looking and sounding ridiculous. It took a few days for me to get it right, but damn did it hurt practising Eruption. My parents thought I was ruining my guitar!

If you want to play Eruption properly, I suggest practising at least 6 or so bar segments over and over again, to get the technique and feel for the solo. Then piece them all together. Once you feel comfortable/confident about playing it straight through, then you'll appreciate even more how special this solo is.

One thing I like about Eruption is that you can improvise on it.
Homer: No one snuggles with Max Power. Just strap on and feel the Gs!

American Coast Guard: Back off Canadians we got them.
Canadian Coast Guard: You back off hosers, they are in Canadian waters, eh.
American Coast Guard: Beat it you puck smacking maple suckers!
Canadian Coast Guard: Take a hike you Shatner stealing Mexico touchers!

Bart: Who the hell is this?
Jack Bauer: I’m Jack Bauer, who the hell is this?
Bart: Me, er… I’m Ahmed Adudi
Jack: Chloe, get me all you can on Ahmed Adudi… Does anyone there know Ahmed Adudi?
Chloe O’Brien: Ahmed Adudi; wealthy Saudi financier… Disappeared into Afghanistan in the late 90s…
    Jack: … Really?
Chloe (ironically): No Jack it’s a joke name, you’re being set up.
    Jack: DAMMIT!

This guy does a good job on Eruption too, and has great tone:

I think his hammering sounds really smooth.

Check this one out - Eruption on the violin!:

    LOL!

"I could call it anything, but the only word I can think of is Brown. It's just a warm sound. Warm, big, majestic" - Eddie Van Halen on his Tone

"Van Halen is definitely a ladies band, and I´ve got the Polaroids to prove it". - David Lee Roth

WOLFGANG did the IMPOSSIBLE, he brought back VAN HALEN, DEAL WITH IT.
