this has already had a post dedicated to it, i think we kinda concluded that it was more likely to be a project someone had started and then ballsed up and they're trying to fob it off on someone who doesnt know much about wolfgangs

I've taken apart MANY Wolfgangs; I know the parts inside and out. The body and neck this guy is selling do look genuine Peavey, so from that angle his story could be true. A matching headstock? Seems right they would try it since the EBMM had it. No wet sanding or buffing of the clear coat? If you're trying to just represent the color, it would make sense to save the time and trouble.

Still, I'm a Wolfgang nut, but I wouldn't pay much money for those parts.

yeah i think i'd take the body and maybe do some crazy airbrush work on it, rather than the usual stuff (stripes/solid colour/dyed quilt top), the "no trussrod" would be a major pain in the ass, i couldnt imagine anyone wanting to part with cash for the neck unless this guitar is gonna be just a piece of wall art...thinking about it my studio could do with a new display....hmmmn

A few red flags IMO ...

    1) There's stain all over the binding.
Whoever stained it, either didn't know how to properly scrape the binding, or didn't care.
If this was done by a paint/stain distributor, wouldn't it make more sense that they would provide swatch "samples" rather then using an actual body? And if a body were to be used, wouldn't it make more sense for the paint/stain distributor to provide sample stain for Peavey (who should know how to scrape binding) to apply?

    2) When did Peavey ever clearcoat a Wolfgang neck?

    3) Where's the "scoop" in the headstock?

    4) No truss rod, polished or leveled frets?

    5) "I was told this body and neck were test color test samples used by the paint and stain distributor who supplied Peavey." ... told by who?

I'm going with my instincts on this one.

Yup. To me the neck is from an HP Special.
One noticeable difference between Judas Priest and Metallica...
...Judas Priest only has one gay guy in the band.

    Good call.

Either way, no one here is buying this, right?

If you do, I'm going to seriously make fun of you.

    Went for $860. Damn.

If he could furnish documentation (that was real), it would be interesting. But, probably the pipe dream everyone has referred to.
