    Saturday Morning TV Comics Thread

For those old enough to remember when Saturday Morning was the most looked forward to day of the week.

To start this series, here's some Batman cartoons that debuted on CBS in 1968. In the future, I'll be digging up some odds and ends, such as the Marvel Comics series (Hulk, Captain America, Iron Man, Thor and Sub-Mariner) along with some vintage toy commercials.

Batman 1968 Filmation Cartoon Intro (:57)

Batman Cartoon 1968 - The Underworld, Underground Caper (6:33)

Classic 1971 Hot Wheels Commercial (:56)

Batman Cartoon 1968 - The Crime Computer (9:59)

Batman Cartoon 1968 - The Great Scarecrow Scare (6:40)

Classic 1971 Hot Wheels ''Rrrumblers'' Commercial (:28)

Just to name a few I remember "Bigfoot and Wildboy", "JLA and the Legion of doom", "The Land of the Lost", the first version of that ROCKED when I was a kid, man, how about schoolhouse rock...I'm just a bill...Nowadays they have really ignorant garbage on like spongebob, ed, ed, and eddie, cripes, I make my kids change the channel when I see those.

Whacky Races was great. I've seen the DVD for sale at Best Buy for the entire series. Dr. Shrinker was great.

Laff-Olympics was my all-time favorite. I even remember the controversial episode where the "Really Rottens" won the contest.

Saturday mornings were gold. My routine as a kid was to watch from 7:00 to 11:30. In that time, it was all about "Bugs Bunny/Roadrunner", "The Super Friends", "Scooby Doo", always culminating with "Fat Albert". It was always a bummer when "Fat Albert" was over because the well was dry. However, at least in SF, if you hung around a while, "Hee Haw" would come on and us city folk would get a glimpse into country/Southern livin'. I thought that show was cool for 3 reasons: Roy Rogers, Buck Owens, and big boobs.

ANd thats exactly how life is down in these parts.

I fucking hated that show almost as bad as Lawrence Welk, that my grandma watched after it.

Right after the Sat morning cartoons were over I'd gut it out for a half hour or so and This Week In Baseball would be on. It's a wonder I ever made it outside.

I have to take exception to some of my brothers here.. I watch Spongebob with the kids, and it's funny as hell sometimes.

I always was a Hong Kong Phooey guy myself. The answer was always in the "Hong Kong book of Kung Fu"

and, with all respect to the recently departed.
