Default Van Halen turn down Monsters Of Rock in UK!

    http://www.classicrockmagazine.com/p...ix_monsters_of

FFS stupid mistake. 1.5 Mil for one festival. Surely that would have enough for them to come and play to a country that they haven't played in nearly 10 years.

    They'd better come soon!

Don't read too much into this story. Classic Rock run virtually the same story on Thursday February 1st 2007. Here it is...check out the last paragraph:

"Classic Rock is sad to report that the Monsters Of Rock Festival - which made a storming comeback at Milton Keynes Bowl last year with a bill that included Deep Purple, Alice Cooper and Journey - is almost certainly on the back burner for 2007.

A source close to the MOR camp told us that given the availabilities (or lack of same) of several key artists, the staging of a Monsters Of Rock event this year is looking "very unlikely indeed".

Many big-name artists have already announced shows of their own this summer, or are committed to rival festivals. Ozzy Osbourne is playing Wembley Arena on June 19 (the same month that MOR 2007 would have been staged) while Iron Maiden are headlining the Download festival on June 10. Maiden are likely to be joined by the likes of Motley Crue and Saxon at Download, making it a significantly 'trad metal' day.

Meanwhile, Van Halen - reunited with frontman David Lee Roth, although we are still awaiting 100 per cent confirmation of that fact - are thought to be asking too much money to make an MOR appearance viable."

Traveling to the UK for just one concert would be a logistical pain in the ass. Could it be done, absolutely, but I can understand if they didn't want to.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

    Preferred pronouns: he/him/his

Hurricane Halen - Let's all gingery touch our sword tips!!!

It wouldn't make sense for them unless:

    1) They were paid an large amount of money--the type of money that would make a one day festival a complete loss.

    2) They felt they needed to restore their image over there so they could sell more records.

Would it be nice? Sure. But like someone else said, if they can make the same amount of money playing two or three shows here, why make all of their people travel over there for one gig unless they really need it for promotional purposes? At this point, it would just be an ego trip to headline a European festival. Nothing more. While we would all like to think they are doing this for the fans, the paycheck always has a strong pull.
CNN may think my opinion matters, but you shouldn't.

Classic Rock Magazine were one of the first people to break the Zep Reunion as they named the date and venue about a month before the announcement but took it off shortly after. They are definately a credible source and are connected with many insiders and officials. They rarely post any unfounded rumours. Plus they were the people who helped put on MOR back in 2006.

Did you read the comments ??

"On the Van Halen front, I'm amazed that they have turned down that kind of money - when you think that they are obviously paying Wolfgang in burgers, they really only need to split the $1,500,000 between three! "

Why does people always make fun of him. Isnīt he an average US kid with an average weight for his age ???

Oh dear, thats dissapointingly true aswell. Most people my age have not even heard of Van Halen nowadays....

Like someone said earlier - why would they come over here? To be ignored by the media, met with indifference by the majority of people, run the risk of an embarrassing attendance flop, use up their free time over the summer and all to play a concert which they could get equivalent pay for by doing a couple of nights at the Staples Center? I dont think so.

It wont ever happen because Eddie doesnt give a shit.

Nah, he's just waiting for the real reunion with Mike Anthony. No point in going now and then having to go back again in a couple of years when MA is back in.
