Just like a good lil linker, I used the search function prior to starting a "Donna's" Thread (pats self on back.. )

From the Donna's My Space page:

Stephen Pearcy + Donnas: Round And Round!

It’s amazing how great music continues to go round and round…..and in that tradition The Donnas are pleased to announce that they just left the studio after re-recording "Round And Round" with none other than Stephen Pearcy of RATT! As many of you know we've been covering this song in our live show, and now in a collaborative effort with Stephen’s band, we added vocals and guitars to bring this classic tune roaring into 2008. Stay tuned for more info on when it will be available and keep a lookout for possible surprise performances down the road!

We'll post a blog with more details in the next few days + a few more pics.

I dig The Donnas. Actually, girl rock bands really do it for me these days, as there is still something kind of taboo about chicks rocking out (really rocking out--not like Hannah Montana or shit like that). It's a form of rock and roll that is still rebellious in a way.

The drummer will be mine. Oh, yes, she will be mine.

I know exactly what you mean, Andrew.

And not just the whole "chick band" vibe, either. For me, that actually expands to just about any frontwoman(?) who's singing in front a traditional, heavier-sounding rock band.

It pretty much could all begin and end with Chrissie Hynde, Shirley Manson, and Kim Gordon.

And there is just something about Brody Dalle's (of The Distillers fame) voice that sounds sexy as hell to me...and it's NOT even that sexy, just more or less a raspy scream...

There's a lot of chick bands I prefer to the Donnas but they're not bad. The nineties gave us a bunch of great chick bands or chick led bands...it was kind of a golden era so to speak...Veruca Salt, the Breeders, Belly, Garbage, Juliana Hatfield, the Cranberries and I've always liked Aimee Mann as well.

The Donnas are alright. As for girl bands, I'm old skool and dig Girlschool. I saw them open up for Iron Maiden/Scorpions in 82 and thought "holy crap, they ROCK!!!". Any girls that can keep up with Lemmy are alright in my book.

I don't really know much about them, but one of my best friends, and former bandmates, is their drum tech. He says the girls are really chill and great to work for...

I'm getting all old now and listen to NPR in my car most of the time. But when I do flip over to our metal station I quickly and easily find myself frustrated at the overall incestuous nature of metal. Like many of the metal bands I used to produce in my studio, metal bands often only listen to other metal bands, and the collective sound just ends up being a regurgitated and mimicked version of... itself! The not-much-to-say alpha male frontman thing has run its course with me. There will always be exceptions, of course, but these days I'd almost always rather hear a girl singer in front of a heavy rock band.
