Default Not Van Halen but just HAD to Post This

Just came upon this video on YouTube of Steve talking and playing with Sterling Ball.

I had to pick up my jaw off the floor after seeing this. I don't listen to him much...but...this almost made me cry watching and listening to this....some of the stuff he played was SOOOO DAMN GOOD!

Steve Morse is truly an amazing player, but for some reason, every time I hear him, I just can't get into it. I really am blown away by his skill, yet I can't seem to watch him for more than a few minutes at a time, and I really don't know why. He's the kind of player that I would normally like very much, but he's never caught on with me. Very strange...

I hear ya... I've been diggin' the guy since around 1978 and still get that vibe from him. It's kind of difficult to put into words, yet he's sort of like the "articulate, well trained professional" that seemingly never breaks a sweat.

The guy blazes, don't get me wrong. His guitar/bass drums three piece in concert is simply astounding, and the fellow can virtually play anything. It's just...crap, I said it's hard to explain.

Been a fan since the Dregs stuff. Love Southern Steel as well. Morse is one of those guys that makes you feel like a retard on any instrument.

The thing I always liked better about him than the other virtuoso geetar playin' sumbitches, is that he surrounded himself with players that were just like him on their respective instruments........Dave Larue, Rod Morgenstein, et. al..

    Good stuff.

Ahead of his time. ..Might be one answer. Pre-Vai, Satch, Eric Johnson, and played at or beyond that level wayyy before any of us had even heard of those guys.

    Cool thread

Morse is a monster on the instrument. Thanks for posting that! Never heard of Scotty Anderson but that was excellent as well.

Here are two of my personal favorite guitarists.

    Greg Howe

    Andy Timmons

Nice stuff... I never could get into Steve Morse. Obviously a great player, but just doesn't work for me. If you like incredible pickers and/or legato players I'm partial to Danny Gatton, Allan Holdsworth, and Lonnie Mack is fun too.
