I have a claim to fame this year - I once worked with one of this year's nominees.

Seamus McGarvey, nominated for photography for Atonement, was cinetographer on a short film that I was musical director on. I was also a hand double in a few scenes when the lead actor was playing guitar. Seamus was a pleasure to watch at work, the way he used light and shadow to shape a scene. I never realised how much impact the photographer has on a movie until then. When you see remarkable visual style in a movie, it probably has more to do with the cinetographer than the director.
HERE AND GONE by Haylen Beck (Stuart Neville writing as...) - "It doesn't get better than this." - Lee Child, "Highly recommended." - Harlan Coben, "Cancel all your plans and settle in for the ride." - Ruth Ware, "This is a book that lives up to the buzz." - Alafair Burke
