Default Chainsaw Attack at Missouri Homeless Shelter

NEW BLOOMFIELD, MO. -- A Callaway County Christian television station played backdrop today for a scene straight out of a horror movie.

A man with a chainsaw attacked four people at KNLJ Channel 25 Saturday, leaving two critically injured.

Police say twenty-eight year old Matthew Watkins is originally from the St. Louis area and authorities say he's been staying at the homeless shelter that sits grounds of the T.V. station for the past couple weeks.

His bond is set at six hundred thousand dollars.

The KNLJ Christian T.V. station in New Bloomfield had some breaking news of it's own Saturday afternoon.

A call from someone inside sent New Bloomfield police and the Callaway County sheriff to Old Highway 54.

When deputies arrived on the scene just after two o’clock p.m.Saturday they found the suspect wielding a chainsaw. Deputies then arrested the suspect at gunpoint.

"We've been told we have three to four victims that have received injury we believe from chainsaws. Right now two of them have been life-staffed out of here to the University of Missouri. Two others I've been told have been transported to other area hospitals." Said Calloway County Sheriff Dennis Crane.

Authorities say two of the victims sustained injuries from a chainsaw to the arm and abdomen, and two others sustained injuries from a knife to the neck.

The names of those victims are not being released at this time, but sheriff crane says as of right now, two of those victims have been treated and released from the hospital and the other two are still hospitalized at this hour but are expected to fully recover from their injuries.

Reverend Larry Rice owns the property where the TV station is and it is also the sight of an all-male homeless shelter.

A manager who runs another one of Larry Rice's homeless shelters in Jefferson City said that the men learn the trade of renewable energy while they stay at the KNLJ property.

She says those who stay at the homeless shelter are background checked before they are allowed to stay.

LOL, Axx that was perfect timing. We definitely need some comic relief with the recent threads telling us how screwed up people can be. Babies being thrown off bridges, dogs being raped, teenages attacking people for their skin color, children stripped naked to be taken into highway traffic. Damned if I could imagine there being more heinous acts being committed but I have faith that some sicko will think of something.

You know, when I read the title my first instinct was to ask, "Where's Axxman?" I don't know, man, you might want to think about changing your chosen weapon of mass destruction...

I use my chainsaw for good, not evil.

    Homeless dudes? No.

Dog rapists, people who throw toddlers off of bridges and folks like that? Yeppers.

Of course you do. And for that we are all very grateful...

You forgot to mention boys who go around taunting beautiful tigers. Not that beautiful tigers (if allowed to live and be tigers) need a man with a chainsaw.

I've thought about breeding Tigers and releasing them into the wilds of California.

Durring the 1990s I researched reintroducing the Grizzly to California (hey, it's on our flag, so it's my duty as a Californian). I did not do this because in the end it came down to two problems:

    1. Luring the Bear into my camper-shell.

    2. KEEPING the bear in my camper-shell.

I figure with global warming/climate change that they'll just return to California on their own at soe point and start eating the hippies that live in the Redwoods.

They can start with the tree hippies at UC Berkeley.

Hey, wait a minute. Don't hippies fall into that benign category (like the homeless)?

Don't know about breeding tigers. They might eat the mountain lions and we definitely don't want any cat-on-cat anniliation.

I can see the problems of keeping Grizzilies in a camper shell. Don't they like to live near water? Fresh water I mean, not the ocean.

Grizzley Bears were native to California and there were supposedly the largest of the species, larger than the Kodiak bears. The last one died before the turn of the 20th century.

Did they die off or move their territory? What kind of bear did Grizzly Adams have?
