    Yahoo Slurp Spider...REGISTERING?

I'm familiar with how the "Spiders" work, in that they merely go about referencing web pages for use by search engines such as Google or Yahoo. Yet I did not realize that they are articulately automated enough to actually attempt registering at a site!

Yup, the other evening while perusing the "Who's On Line" feature, sure enough I noticed one of the spiders was attempting this. Is this common, and more to the point can one of these devices actually be articulated enough to accomplish such a thing? If that is indeed the case, the implications would indeed be scary considering the notion of abuse by hackers.

I'm guessing that it was just following all the links it could and it wound up on the registration page. Spammers do use programs to automatically register on forums, as can be seen here once in a while, but I doubt Yahoo would do the same.

Thanks. I dunno, I find it sort of disturbing the way these things are to be seen reviewing users profiles and the like. It's just sort of creepy, ya know?
