Waiting for your new BMW to arrive??

    oops!

The Courage tipped at the port in Jersey City causing major damage to over 300 BMWs not including 70+ BMWs that were total losses.

A majority of the destroyed vehicles were M3s (mostly in dark blue) with a variety of 3ers and 1ers smashed up as well. A small number of the cars destroyed had German Tourist plates on them, those European delivery customers will NOT be getting their cars back.

If you were expecting your M3 or e90/92 in the next month, you're going to be in for a sad surprise.

Those cars that were a total loss will be crushed, I asked a BMW rep, he stated that they will not be auctioned as there is a liability for letting those cars on the road. The shipping company's insurance is footing the bill, I do not know how they will handle those cars that are already owned by the European Delivery customers.

Those cars with light damage will be repaired at the Elizabeth Receiving facility and sold through BMW's dealer network as new cars.

Thats not good. I have a 2004 M3 and had put a deposit down on the new V-8 M3 at a local dealership. As I recall, they were supposed to begin ariving in the spring. I was further down the list because I wanted the SMG transmission again and the first ones produced were going to be manual transmission only. Once you get used to shifting without a clutch, it's hard to go back. Those paddles on the wheel are awesome. Closest to formula one I'll ever get! Guess those customers are going to be a little bumed, but you have to make em start from the ground up again. I wouldn't take the car after being repaired, even for a great discount.

Haha, you'd be surprised what can be done with a wreck. Back at home we had a couple of garages that would take a completely fucked car, say Crysler 300D, and in a few days it would go to the official Crysler salon. My mom's car was smashed in a boot couple of years ago - it looked like an accordion and a camel had a one night stand. The guys fixed it so well it looked like we got a new car back.

You're missing the point...I want to know how or why they can title these as NEW cars (That was the impression that was given from the OP).

Lol no I said the repaired cars were going to official salons as new cars. Of course it was all hush-hush despite everyone knowing anyway. I wasn't sure they could do that in the States but apparently so, coz I got the same impression from the article.
