    Default Hmmm...INTERESTING find...

I was killing time, did a Google on 'Van Halen' and found this:

    http://danherron.wordpress.com/2007/...r-headstock-2/

Normally I wouldn't have said a thing about it but considering the post date of the pic, I thought it might be worthy of discussion.

    Anyone know anything about this?

other than thats the Ernie Ball Music Man guitar that Ed endorsed in the early 90s (91 I think). He flipped from EBMM to Peavey because he was unhappy with how long it took consumers to get the guitars and the price (go figure).

Eddie's Ernie Ball guitars never had that headstock, unless that is from a prototype or something. It could also be a fake, somebody just slapped a couple of decals on a headstock.

That Gerulaitis find is very cool. I get the impression someone bought that at an estate auction. I'd love to know what they paid. I'd much rather have that thing than one of the cornball Art Series e-bay jobs from the last two tours.

Yep - that's exactly why I thought it was interesting. The post date of that pic was back in summer of last year so I was wondering if, before Ed finalized his deal with Fender, he was at one point considering going back to EBMM and this was a proto...

plus thats not a typical ebmm headstock. most if not all of their headstocks have the 4+2 tuning machine configuration.

The guy's site is pretty clear that this is his project guitar.

Almost off-topic, but I remember an interview where EVH said that, when he started working with Music Man, they took his Frankie, which still had the Kramer banana headstock on, clean the neck or something and affixed the MM logo on it...I think it's mentioned somewhere in the VH Encyclopedia.

The owner of this guitar just recently sent it to my shop for repair.
    It's a project guitar.

they never worked on the franky. they cleaned and repaired the headstock of the 5150. as dino said that is a common aquatince's guitar. it was a project that he through the decal on. i cant believe the comparison.

then you would have known that ed would never consider going back to ebmm and big poppa would have nothing to do with him again. dont mean to sound harsh but you were kind of snippy towards the guy above.
