Nice! Interesting to see Eddie as he really comes off as clean, sober, lucid, energetic and happy.

I'm sorry to see him with a freakin cig in his mouth but if he needs a vice...that's okay.

I tried the 5150 III and I loved it. I hate the price but I loved the amp. It's more than I would ever need in terms of power so I would not buy it.

    Cool interview. Thanks!

That was interesting, as I'd been looking forward to seeing the cd/rom for a while now. Thank you for providing the link, James, much appreciated.

This looks like the interview that was printed in GW a few months ago.

I don't really get Ed's idea about having a guitar feed back through the amp on top volume for a month. (A month?!?) From what little I know about tube amps, that wouldn't seem to prove a lot. I think that's just Eddie being an eccentric artist.

I feel really sorry for everybody in that factory if they really did leave the thing howling away for an entire month. They probably didn't, though. When Ed tells the story, he says, "I came back a month later and it was still going!" What probably really happened was: "Oh, shit! Here comes Eddie. Turn the amp back on!"

    Don't read this.

More than likely, as it appears that it took place during the set up for the cover shoot.

I'd kill to have that rehearsal footage from 5150. Eddie sounds amazing on those short clips. It's great to see him sober too, seems like a cool cat when he's not hammered.

There's some photos of the setup for that photo shoot on the Fender Customs MySpace page (sorry I don't have a link right now).

The Frankie Ed was playing in the 5150 rehearsal footage was actually the original, as he marked up the backside of the neck with a Sharpie out of concern it would get lost amongst the replicas. (Hmm... really?)

Old McIntosh stereo amplifiers and receivers (which were tubed) were tested in their final phase by being turned on and left on for weeks at a time. So I don't think Eddie's "sustain test" is all that crazy. Whether or not it actually happened...

Has there been an EVH interview recently where Matthew Bruck was not visibly there?

Thanks for link! Glad I finally got to see that...

I thought he marked up the Replica saying "This is the Shit" so that he'd know which one was the Replica...

I was thinking the same thing about Bruck...will Ed only talk to Bruck when it comes to interviews because I had no idea Bruck was conducting the interview...in the magazine interview Bruck was being questioned as well...

Right. That makes sense. You can test lots of things by leaving it on for a long time. Basically running current through all of the parts and making sure everything will hold up.
My point is that I don't think it does any good to make the thing feed back for a whole month. If anything, it would only prove that the speaker cabinet can produce that one particular frequency for a long time without, I don't know, vibrating loose or something.

any of your electronics/wiring gurus can hlep me on this one, but I'm thinking that leaving it to feedback at a high volume would help test the wiring and the speaker cones right? Would the stress of having it feedback be greater than just leaving on without any signal passing through it?
