    Default Poets and Pirates

It looks like Sammy's big surprise superstar guitarist may very well be Kenny Chesney. A bunch of dates have been announced for the Poets and Pirates tour - and Sammy Hagar is going to be one of the acts on a long bill.

    April 2008
    26 - Columbia, SC - Williams Brice

    May 2008
3 - Dallas, TX - Pizza Hut Park
    10 - Baltimore, MD - M&T Bank Stadium
    24 - Cleveland, OH - Browns Stadium
31 - Glendale, AZ - University of Phoenix Stadium

    June 2008
    8 - San Francisco, CA - AT&T Park
    14 - Pittsburgh, PA - Heinz Field
    21 - Chicago, IL - Soldier Field

    July 2008
    5 - Nashville, TN - LP Field
    13 - Atlanta, GA - Turner Field
19 - Philadelphia, PA - Lincoln Financial Field
    26 - Boston, MA - Gillette Stadium

    August 2008
    2 - Detroit, MI - Ford Field

    September 2008
13 - Indianapolis, IN - Lucas Oil Field

I guess that means there will probably won't be any Mad Anthony Express/Los Tres Guanos/Other Half/Samy Hagar shows this summer.

I am not sure I want to sit through a whole day of country music to hear - at best - a 45 minute Sammy Hagar set comprised mostly of his "country" songs - "I Love This Bar," "Half Way to Memphis," etc. He will probably do a duet with Chesney - "My Tractor Can't Drive Over 25."
I don't have a cool signature. Deal with it!

I was hoping to catch a Sam show this summer, but if it is him playing a small set of his "countrier" tunes imbedded in a lineup of country acts, I'll pass.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

We can hope Sambo is touring with his own show and the stadium shows will be in addition to his tour. There are no a lot of dates listed and I'm sure there will be more to come but we will have to see if this tour will prevent him from doing his own thing as well.

If not, good for Sam and the Wabos to play some stadiums in front of different crowds and a chance for Sam to enjoy a tour without having to do all the work.

True.....plus at this point Sam can do whatever he chooses, not a bad position to be in.

I'm sure Sam will love playing in front of 50 thousand people this summer. Don't this Chesney charectar's ticket sell out in no time?

yeah, but Hagar appears to be third on the bill. as in, middle of the day. so you'd only have to sit through two bumpkin bands to get to Sam, and then you could split. and if they're pulling 50,000 the whole day of the show...i'm sure Sam's gonna like being in front of that kind of crowd. but face it, they aren't there to see him. maybe not a hostile audience, but probably not very accepting. i'm envisioning slightly less people for the early bands.

my sister in law is a big country fan and goes to these Chesney shows, i'll have to ask her how the crowds look early in the day. hell for all i know she skips the first two or three bands too.

This is a much talked about subject over at RR.Com and another Sam related site i am a member of. All the dates posted so far that Sam is a part of are on a Saturday. With the exception of July 13th, which is a Sunday. Most of his fans that aren't fans of country music are hoping that he finishes the forty or so dates left on the 24/365 Tour(Sixty for Sixty)

July 12th is the date for the talked about finale for that tour. Well...it's still open. Maybe there is a reason for that.I personally hope so as i plan on making the trek to St. Louis for that show. Sam is going to be an opening act on this tour with Chesney. I don't think he will have the Cabo stage with him, though i could be wrong. Sam could play his shows during the week and fly to the Chesney gig on Saturday.

All just speculation on my part.

According to the Pittsburgh Post Gazette, Sammy will not be on the bill for the Pittsburgh show. Contrary to what I assumed, he is only playing some dates on the Poets and Pirates tour - not the whole thing. It seems that this will leave open the possibility of a full-blown Hagar show in Pitt.
