    Default The Incredible Hulk

This is old news from April, 2007 - first I heard of it today, and didn't find a related thread... (not yet! )

    News
Edward Norton is The Incredible Hulk!
Source: Marvel Studios April 16, 2007

Two-time Academy AwardŽ nominee Edward Norton has signed on to play Bruce Banner, who transforms into Marvel's renowned, larger-than-life Super Hero, The Hulk in Marvel Studios' action-packed, new big screen adaptation of The Incredible Hulk. The film, which is being directed by Louis Leterrier and distributed by Universal Pictures, is scheduled to smash into theaters on June 13, 2008.

"Edward Norton is a rare talent and one of the most versatile actors in the business. His ability to transform into a particular role makes him the ideal choice to take on the character of Bruce Banner/The Hulk. Edward is perfectly suited to bring one of the most popular and important Marvel icons to the big screen in a new and exciting way," said Kevin Feige, President of Production, Marvel Studios.

Under the visionary direction of Louis Leterrier (Transporter 2, Unleashed), The Incredible Hulk will return to the roots of the long-running comic series and television show.

The story unfolds when the pursuit for The Hulk - the world's most misunderstood, primal force of fury - heats up, finding Bruce Banner on the run attempting to cure his condition before his pursuers capture him.

Edward Norton is widely recognized as one of Hollywood's most multifaceted actors. Having appeared in more than 20 films to date, he has garnered numerous accolades, including two Academy Award nominations. He received a Best Actor nod for his portrayal of a former Neo-Nazi in American History X, as well as Supporting Actor recognition for his role opposite Richard Gere in Primal Fear. He will next been seen in Pride and Glory (co-starring Colin Farrell). Other film credits include: Fight Club, The Painted Veil, The Illusionist, The Score, 25th Hour, Frida, Death to Smoochy, and The People vs. Larry Flynt

i love Ed Norton...never seen him in a movie in which he wasn't brilliant. He plays schwarmy snakey guys beautifully...like in Rounders...he and Matt Damon are two of my favourite actors right now

We were talking about this around the end of 2006 in the Batman thread, and word had it then that Warner Brothers had both Iron Man (May 2) and The Incredible Hulk (June 27) planned for release in 2008.

Apparently the studio felt that the first Hulk film was such an outright stinker that they decided to scrap everything and start over in building a franchise.

The Iron Man trailer looks quite promising. http://www.vhlinks.com/vbforums/show...82&postcount=7

but the Hulk movie had Jennifer Connelly in it and as such was well worth watching...in fact, she's going to be the next entry on Women Who I Think Are Way Hotter Than They Get Credit For!

Nah, man...she's gotten a ton of credit for being totally hot. That sort of belies the intent of the thread.

That 1st one was pretty weak. I remember thinking having Ang Lee as a director was a mistake even though I'm a big fan of "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon". The CGI in the 1st Hulk sucked.

That first Hulk flick was a giant pile of green shit. Approaches the crappiness of that Clooney-led Batman flim.

I think Ed Norton's an exceptional actor, but I got a bad feeling about this.

The first Hulk attempt was too hard to watch b/c of the cutaway shots, trying to make it like a comic I guess. Gave me a headache tho. I didn't like the way they kept up with the flashbacks to his youth either.

Dunno, the movie wasn't that good, but I did like the shots of the ol' hometown (SF).

I had the same feeling back when I heard Michael Keaton was going to play Batman (uh...er.... what? "Mr. Mom" "Gung Ho" guy is going to play Batman?!?)

Then, of course, he was awesome.

I think it could be a good choice. Norton has a flyweight nature that will make the transformation more dramatic.

Speaking of Ed Norton, did anyone else love "The Score"?

    Default as great directors go...

Ang Lee is much better at sliding Elijah Wood off of an open guard rail than he could ever be with a CGI Hulk and Nick Nolte.

True. He's also much better at getting manly cowboys to convincingly lust over each other ala Brokeback Mountain.
